 London is the biggest city in
Europe. Over 8 million people
live there.
 It’s the center of media, art,
fashion, technology, education and
entertainment.
 London is a very old city, founded
about 2000 years ago by Romans.
 There are many famous
places: Buckingham Palace,
the London Eye, Piccadilly
Circus, Big Ben, Tower Bridge
and Trafalgar Square.

London Eye is called
the Millennium Wheel – an
observation wheel located on
the south bank of the Thames.
The circle is 135 meters tall, and
its full rotation takes about 40
minutes. At the wheel there are
32 passenger capsules.

 Big Ben
Big Ben was built betwen 1834 and
1859. Bell’s weight is 13 tonnes. Its clock is
the biggest clock in the Great Britain. Its
disc diameter is 7,5 m and its tips are 4,25 m
long. Behind the Big Ben there is the
Parliament. It is named after Sir Benjamin
Hall, an architect, or a boxer Benjamin
Caunt.

 St Paul’s Cathedral
St Paul’s Cathedral is
located in the centre of London
called The City. Its construction
lasted between 1675 – 1710. It’s
famous for a monumental dome
with a diameter of 50 meters and
weight of 700 tons. It’s 108m height
and 158m long.

 Tower Bridge
Tower Bridge is a symbol of London. It has got two towers that
weight 1,100 tons. In the towers there is a museum of its history, and on
the upper bridge, now open to tourists, there is a beautiful view of the
River Thames. The bridge was constructed in 1894.

 Natural History Museum
Natural History Museum is the largest natural history museum
in Britain. The museum is famous for its exhibition of dinosaur skeletons.
It was build in 1881.

 Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace is the official
residence of British king and queen and
the world's biggest royal palace. The
palace was opened in 1703. Today
Buckingham Palace is also a place for
ceremonies and official meetings. For the
British people the palace is one of the
symbols of Great Britain; here Londoners
put flowers after the death of Princess of
Wales, Diana. On the square in front of the
Palace stands a statue of Queen Victoria.

 Hyde Park
Hyde Park is one of many parks in
London. It was founded in 1536 by the king
Henry VIII. Most of the monuments in the
park were designed in the 19th. In Hyde
Park is a place where everyone can relax and
spend some time outdoors. You can play
many sports there.

Piccadilly Circus
is London's most famous
square and a place for
meeting. At its center
there is a fountain with a
statue of Eros where
people toss coins looking

Trafalgar Square is a famous place in the city of London, England.
It is a large square visited by many tourists. Trafalgar Square is the heart of
London.
The square celebrates the Battle of Trafalgar, fought in 1805. There is
a statue of Lord Horatio Nelson (5 meters tall) mounted on a tall column (56
meters tall). The National Art Gallery is there.

Madame Tussauds is a famous museum in London. It was founded
by an artist, Marie Tussaud. It’s a famous tourist attraction in London. It has
