been typical cheap houses. …
one-family buildings up to four storeys high. The dining-room on top
was the only large room, and often opened on a terrace. …
The furnishings would simply consist of a table and three surrounding
couches, from which the dining-room takes its name in Latinized
Greek—the triclinium. “
