2. Scholarship provides recognition and monetary reward to
top students in their last year of schooling.
Scholarship exams enable candidates to be assessed
against challenging standards, and are demanding for the
most able candidates in each subject.
Scholarship candidates are expected to demonstrate high-
level critical thinking, abstraction and generalisation, and
to integrate, synthesise and apply knowledge, skills,
understanding and ideas to complex situations.

3. Geo Schol is a resource based paper that asks you to
analyse info to write essay type answers.
Geo Schol asks you to create diagrams to show info.
Geo schol requires some thinking and analysis not just
learning of info.

4. Format of the assessment
The examination will be resource-based.
In 2014, the examination questions and resource
booklet will focus on urbanization, urban settlements,
and urban growth.
Some resource materials (such as maps, text,
photographs, models, graphs, tables and cartoons)
related to this theme will be provided, to assist
candidates within this geographic context.

5. Candidates will be required to complete questions that
involve selecting, extracting, analysing, processing,
predicting, justifying, and presenting information.
Candidates will be required to include relevant original
visuals that will enhance their answers.
Candidates will be expected to demonstrate
understanding of a range of geographic perspectives and
to use their geographic knowledge, skills, ideas, and
understanding to support their answers.

6. We run after school and lunchtime sessions to
prepare you for the exam.
There are university run workshops at Auckland Uni
after school to help you answer the paper.
We will have our first meeting on Wednesday March
26th at lunchtime in R86.
