We Need Your Help!
Nonprofit Start Pack Advisory Board
Key Takeaway:
Tell a personal story- Ask customer to do the same
Talk Track:
We recognize that you have to get back to the fact that you can do more with the company than just make money, build products, hire great people, you can also give back. That is the core of our new philanthropic model. This model is a 1:1:1 model where we give 1% of our equity, employees time, and product to non-profits.
And we’re celebrating 16 years of giving back this year. In that time we’ve given over 1.1M hours of community service, $100 million in grants have come out of the foundation, and 26,000 non‑profits use our products which has amounted in $250M worth of donated product. In fact, our 1:1:1 model has been so successful that global companies like Yelp, DocuSign and Splunk have adopted it.
Personally, I am involved in… [Insert personal story here]
The Nonprofit Starter Pack open source project has continued to provide an alternative platform for nonprofit organizations on the Salesforce platform to build upon since 2008. Given the large numbers of users, organizations and ecosystem partners with a stake in the future of the project, Salesforce.org leadership wants to provide a long-term commitment to a more open governance and contribution model by facilitating and supporting an advisory board.
The NPSP Advisory Board has seats reserved for the various constituencies who are making long-term investments in the Nonprofit Starter Pack, this includes:
Individuals who are investing time and effort to contribute to the project
Organizations using the NPSP
Partners that are extending, utilizing or enhancing the NPSP in their products and services
Outside expertise from other open source projects
Facilitate
Salesforce.org believes by letting the direction of NPSP be driven by the community, it will future-proof the project and eliminate the perception that the project direction is dictated solely by Salesforce.org.
The NPSP Advisory Board provides input on this to ensure there is a clear model for contribution, a meritocracy-based path for consideration in input and roadmap direction, and a well-defined model for making decisions within the core contributor team and for maintaining a high level of quality on the project.

Roadmap discussions. Salesforce.org wants partners, customers and contributors engaged in roadmap discussions and values information on how and when Advisory Board need certain technologies/features as well as input on what is most relevant on the roadmap.
