6. Components Of A Dynamic Driven Ngo
capacity building activities with the goal of educating, empowering, and creating lasting change in a
community. Alternative Measures: Efficiency and Effectiveness and their frameworks Two
categories of performance measurements are internal and external indicators. The internal indicator
is a measure of efficiency about the NGOs need to gauge its funding, budgeting efficiency,
expenses, and costs. The external indicator is about the effectiveness that deals with the NGOs
relationship with its environment, including local NGOs. The chart on the following page illustrates
the components of two indicators. Although many indicators are available to NGOs, their agenda
still determines their preferred indicators. For example, a donor–driven NGO will pay more
attention to the efficiency of its project. It can check for their fundraising efficiency, financial
transparency, programs/projects financial efficiency. This internal indicator functions by following a
logical framework. A log frame comprises inputs, activities, outputs, immediate outcomes,
intermediate outcomes, and impact. A transformative–driven NGO will focus on indicators of
effectiveness and applies an input impact framework that assesses inputs, activities, outputs,
outcomes, and impacts. A mandate–driven NGO will focus on an indicator of effectiveness. In doing
so, it applies a common outcome framework that considers program–based measures (satisfaction
and participation), community–based measures (community

10. Lessons Learned Report On Iranian Culture
Lessons Learned Report
Omid Ashrafi
Aug 23, 2014
City University of Seattle
Abstract
This paper shows cultural differences between Iranians, Chinese and Indians in business
negotiations based on interviews with three businessmen: an American citizen who set up a general
trading company in China, an Iranian Canadian citizen who has a trading company in Iran, and an
Indian America who set up a business in India. The interview questions focused on cultural elements
based on Hofstede's research: power distance, low–high context, and general business behavior in
these countries.
Lessons Learned Report
Knowledge of other cultures is one of the keys to being successful in business dealings. This paper
reports on real experiences in cross–cultural business interactions from three different perspectives. I
interviewed three successful businessmen, one who worked with Iranians, one with Chinese, and
one with Indians. I interviewed them independently, and my questions covered four different
elements: cultural behavior in business negotiations, management as symbol of high power distance
in the companies, knowledge of high context or low context culture, and finally knowledge of each
of culture to have better business negotiation in future.
An Iranian Canadian Citizen
My first Interview was with an Iranian Canadian citizen, Mr. P. Danesh, who has lived in Canada for
more than 35 years and who set up a trading company in the pharmaceutical industry in

PERSONAL STATEMENT
Ever since my childhood I was very much fascinated about the buildings and roads, that desire lead
me to opt for Civil Engineering in under graduation. Even when I stood at the crossroads to my
future, it is the most multi–disciplinary scope and the down–to–earth realistic nature of 'Civil

26. My Salary Analysis
The common low that I would start out with is forty–two dollars an hour and $89,320 a year. The
highest I would be paid is seventy–two dollars an hour and $150,550 a year. The average pay for a
pharmacist is fifty–eight dollars an hour and $120,950 a year. Whether I am at the lowest, highest or
average. I will still make enough yearly to maintain a comfortable standard of living. I will choose
to stay around the Sugar Land, Houston area once I graduate. Compared to other cities, the annual
salary that I will make would not be enough to maintain a comfortable standard of living. If I moved
to Sacramento, California my salary at an average pay would increase by $16,000. With that being
said my housing would increase by nine percent, groceries by thirty–eight percent, utilities by
fifteen percent, transportation by eighteen percent and health care by twenty percent. With the
$16,00 salary, I still would not be able to have a comfortable standard of living in Sacramento. I
would need to have my salary increase by at least $30,000 so I can maintain the same standard of
living that I had in Houston. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other cities like New York City my salary would go from $120,000 to $269,393, but my housing

average pharmacy salary. Knowing that being a pharmacist in Houston means that I would maintain
a comfortable living, but in other means I would not. I am happy that I choose to stay in Houston
and become a pharmacist. If I were planning on moving to New York City or Sacramento I would
have to choose a new career that can keep up with the standard of living there. I have to have
experience in pharmacy because some pharmacy jobs require you to have experience. This is why I

The early Timurid art displayed strong Chinese influences. T. Lentz and G. Lowry found that
cursive and poetic lines and contours in Persian manuscripts might be the outcome of Persians' study
of the Chinese literati paintings. Some of the Chinese sketches on Buddhist monks or birds such as
hawks were reproduced in the Timurid Court. The admiration of the Chinese styles was more
evident in the paintings by Kamal al–Din Bihzad whose advocacy of Romanticism and Naturalism
had their references to pre–modern Chinese still–life and landscape paintings. Besides paintings and
manuscripts, the record of trade transactions in Turfan specifies that the major export from the
Central Asia to China was horses, while the imports were robes, silk and paper money. In this case,

Manchester United's Economic Impact

Sports Marketing & Management
28 February 2013
Introduction
Manchester United is the most valuable sports club to exist so surely the club must make the city a
lot of money every year, right? Soccer is the most popular sport in the world, and the most popular
soccer club in the world is Manchester United. There is no denial that Manchester United has had a
huge cultural impact as well as made many social contributions to its locale, but what about the
team's economic impact? Manchester United has influenced the local and regional economy in many
ways, with most of them being exclusively positive. Some of the ways the club ... Show more

Marketing of the city is a very important tool when it comes to this. The question is which role
sports, and more specifically soccer clubs like Manchester United, can play here. Entertainment is
playing a bigger and bigger role in society as the years go by. So, how does the government view
Manchester United in this matter? The government acknowledges the important role Manchester
United plays as a catalyst for marketing of the city. They regard Manchester United mainly as a
publicity channel for the region to attempt to attract tourists, as well as companies to the region.
Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council also uses the presence of Manchester United to further
develop the area around the club. They have a long–term vision for the development of Old
Trafford, the team's historic stadium. The role of Manchester United in attracting businesses is very
significant. The club can attract businesses itself but can only do this for businesses that benefit from
the actual matches taking place, such as pubs and hotels. On the other hand, the club functions as a
publicity channel for the region. It draws attention, and is always a good way to start a conversation.
In this way, the club has indirectly made a large contribution to bring businesses and investments to
the region. The brand name is known all over the world and puts

Iranian Identity in the Global World
Globalization is defined as the 'world becoming a small global village' where all countries merge
into a mosaic of one multicultural free communication of information village. Yet, if globalization is
supposed to enhance the relationships between different cultures, making the whole world one
nation, it drastically fails, due to the many differences between the world's nations. Iran is one
example of a country nation that has been detached from the global structure. With all the studies
that have been made on Iran, the 1979 Revolution caused the West to treat Iran with great bias, in a
similar fashion to the prevailing bias against the entire Eastern region. Iran has since been ... Show

I will analyze Iranian society, with reference to postcolonial theories employing different
approaches. First, I will explain the general idea behind postcolonial theory, specifically orientalism,
as it is one major approach in postcolonial studies. Then I will look at some historical aspects of
Iranian identity development, discussing various events that have affected the psyche of Iranians as
a community. I will focus on Tehran's metropolitan area as it is the major city in Iran. As an outsider
to Iranian culture inside Iran I am aware that my approach will contain inherent bias, however,
trying to limit this will be my goal throughout the essay. Also, limited space may not permit a long
detailed view of all my research, but I shall attempt to convey my main point concisely.
The main interest in postcolonial theory is what happens to people during and after colonialism.
Splitting in straight lines self from other by purifying the self, is one discussion in postcolonial
theory. Naturally, people view each other globally within the concept of 'Them and Us'. One's
identity is often defined through encounters with differing cultures. Edward Said is considered the
founder of postcolonial theory. In 1978 Said wrote a controversial book called Orientalism. He

How does the character and quality of open space vary in different parts of London, and what are the
factors affecting this? London, an area of 1,572 square kilometers, is home to 8.7 million people.
According to Greenspace Information for Greater London (GiGL), up to '39% of Greater London
can be classified as green open space' – 14.2m2 per resident, of which nearly half (17.88% of total
space) is classified as being parks or woodland. In this essay I will be discussing how the character
and quantity of these open spaces differ across two areas, Tower Hamlets (TH) and The City, before
suggesting key factors affecting them. First though – we must define the question, by explaining the
key terms. 'Open Space' can be interpreted in different ways, however I understand it to refer to
green space (parks, woodlands, gardens) but also the open river and canal space, or the open air in
the capital. I interpret 'character' as the type of open space, the size and location in relation to other
land use (commercial, industrial or residential), and overall 'feel' of the space. 'Quality' is interpreted
as the standard of the space (for example how well maintained, features available and overall air
quality). Finally, the variation across the city refers to how the style and standard of these spaces
differ across the 1000mile2 area, comparing similarities, patterns and exceptions across boroughs.
One variation in the character and quality between TH and The City is the

INTRODUCTION
In today's economy, firms are no longer the center of business. In order to survive, companies need
to acknowledge the fact that business now revolves around customers
(Keith, 1960). As a result, marketing becomes one of the most prominent philosophies in business.
Therefore, to get a better understanding of today's business, this essay will be discussing about three
important concepts. These concepts are marketing as a business philosophy, the understanding of
customer value, followed by the link between marketing and customer value. In addition, this essay

CUSTOMER VALUE
Zeithaml (1988, as cited in Smith & Colgate, 2007, p. 8) defined customer value as being "what
customers get from the purchase and use of a product versus what they pay." According to Drucker
(1999), customer value determines what the business will produce and whether it will prosper or
not. Clearly, customers will prefer to consume the product that offers them most benefits with least
costs possible.
Based on their researches, Smith and Colgate (2007) proposed four major values of customer that
applicable to consumer and to customer value creation strategy.
According to Smith and Colgate (2007), functional value is concerned about the purpose and
usefulness of a product. Experiential value is concerned with the customers' feelings created by the

customers. On the other hand, cost is related to the both direct and indirect costs of using the
product.

The name Zachary is of Hebrew origin. In English it means "remembered by God". Coming from a
Jewish family, my parents wanted me to have a name that somewhat relates to Judaism. I'm not a
religious person at all so the Jewish aspect of the name really doesn't affect how I feel about it.
When I spoke with my father about why he had chosen the name Zachary, he said that he wanted to
give me a name that couldn't be twisted to be anything bad. He went on to explain how his name,
Joshua, was often made fun of as a kid. He didn't want me to have to go threw name calling because
even though it often isn't against the individual, it can still hurt. So my mother and father looked

79. Importance Of Conformity In The Film 'Not Without My...
When we conform we belong, when we rebel we doubt. Two sides to the spectrum. Two paths to
figure out. An hour, a minute, a split second... What path will you choose? Will you choose to take a
risk and stand out? Or doubt yourself and conform to society's norms? Or will you even have a
choice.
Good morning Year 11, I was asked to join you here today to discuss conformity and its presence in
the brilliant film; "Not Without My Daughter", directed by Brain Gilbert. The movie was adapted
from the true story based on Betty Mahmoody's experience. The plot pivots on a sinister
manipulation: Iranian–American husband "Moody", convinces his American wife, Betty, to travel
with him and their daughter, Mahtob, for a vacation in Iran, promising to safely return to their
Michigan home two weeks later. However, once there, in the male dominated country of Iran, his
personality shifts dramatically. He dedicates himself to his religion and his country, revealing his
true intentions for them to stay in Iran for good. He steals Betty's freedom and forces her to stay in
Iran, while progressively becoming more physically abusive toward Betty as she resists. What
would you do if you were in Betty's shoes?
Conformity can either satisfy the natural human need for social interaction or establish barriers that
lead to isolation. Personal circumstances and choices to either conform or rebel dictate the direction
one ends up going. The movie "Not Without My Daughter" clearly exemplifies this through

87. Personal Statement For Architecture
"Architecture is just visual art unless you put a function to the creation." My passion for arts was
identified by my parents when I was in Class 9, which gave me an insight and motivation of wanting
to do something creative. I pursued architecture from Babu Banarasi Das University which soon
made me realize that learning architecture gives me immense eternal joy and satisfaction. My
interest in designing and sketching is also in line with the study of history of Architecture, urban
design, landscape architecture, graphics and communications. Therefore, I extend my great desire to
pursue my education in a safe and a beautiful country like Australia.

91. Hind Swaraj And Indian Western Civilization Analysis
Since the 17th century, Britain had been established on the Indian subcontinent along with the
influence of its Western economic, political, military, and educational systems. In Hind Swaraj or
Indian Home Rule, Gandhi repudiates Britain's Western civilization as essentially secular, failing to
embody morality and religion and instead indulging in materialism. In contrast, the morally superior
Indian civilization is anchored in the belief of God. Therefore, he argues that India must achieve
"Swaraj" or self–rule from Britain to preserve and embrace the true India created by its ancestors.
Successful passive resistance against the British Raj, through individual swaraj or complete control
over one's own physical body and soul, will enable India to cure the "disease" of civilization.
Gandhi begins his critique of Western civilization by listing its symptoms, most importantly,
industrialization. The development of machinery has transformed everyday life in Europe and has
attempted to promote overall well–being of the individual and society. However, Gandhi
differentiates this means of progress as strictly superficial, believing these developments only
promote "bodily happiness" and self–indulgence. In the past, for example, men were required to
manually plow land, but this long process evolved with the invention of the steam engine so that a
single man can plow significantly more land and thereby gain the monetary rewards for the
machine's efficiency. By contrasting previous ways of life to reality, Gandhi emphasizes the changes
brought about by civilization and the newfound reliance on superfluous wealth to buy superfluities
for the means of physical comfort. Money, Gandhi argues, is England's god and guides the pathway
of Britain's goal to "convert the whole world into a vast market for their goods" (37). Western
civilization induces moral weakness, allowing people to give in to their earthly desires, making
"bodily welfare the object of life" (31). The illusion of wealth as the means to happiness is the focal
point of civilization and will ultimately lead to its own destruction. Conclusively, Britain's
persistent, yet remediable disease of Western civilization is a grossly incompetent model for India.

95. What Is A Flashbulb Memory Accurate
Memory: Flashbulb Memories
A flashbulb memory are memories that are detailed and vivid experiences stored in our minds, and
retained for a lifetime. We tend to remember exactly where we was, what we was doing, who we
were with, and what day and time the event occurred. We have these flashbulb memories of
emotionally stirring events, because it began when one person started to tell their remembrance of a
certain event that happened, then that person started retelling another person in their own
perspectives, and eventually it being retold over and over again. Flashbulb memories are not as
accurate as they seem when they become embedded into our brains after learning of traumatic
events happening around the world. Flashbulb memories are not necessarily 100% accurate, "the
accuracy reduces during the first three months and levels at about twelve months" (Flashbulb
Memory, n.d.). Flashbulb memories demonstrates the emotional content of an event, ... Show more

first thing that came to my mind after hearing her say that was this was another 9/11 attack, and the

Health is determined by some social conditions such as people's work, area of birth, living and
working environment. it also includes housing, education, built environment, financial security, and
the health system. The world health organisation (WHO) stated that the above conditions are
influenced by some very powerful forces which include social policies, economic policy, and
political instances.
However, the term social determinants are nowadays greatly perceived as the responsibility of large
amount of unwarranted health imbalance. While some imbalances are the consequence of free
choice or usual natural differences, others are of external management of some people or groups of
people and invariably these could be and could be circumvented

104. Classroom Reflection
Today in elementary schools, children are far more advanced than my generation of children in
elementary school. Countless amounts of their parents are more open–minded, as well as inclined to
hold challenging conversations with them at such a young age. Aside from communication, some
parents are also helping students brush up on other academic skills, such as mathematics. Parents are
not just preparing their students to meet standards in their classes, but to surpass the requirements
for their grade levels. In classes, many teachers now take part in three twenty minute rotation
activities. This is a formative assessment, that seems like a game to students, but actually allows
teachers to reflect on students progress. It also creates this illusion of children being able to have
freedom over their learning, and choose what activity they want to begin their rotation periods with.
That way, no one is left feeling bored with repetitive lessons, and no one feels overwhelmed with
hurried instructed activities. With that being said, I believe Dewey is the perfect representative of
this type of learning structure. In this reflection, I will state and explain my reasons why I mainly
support Dewey. Next, I will then explain what reasons made me, disagree with Cubberley. Lastly, I
will finish up my reflection by readdressing my main thoughts in a brief summary. For starters,
several schools today are more intrigued with challenging traditional education. This allows students

112. The English Peasant Uprising Essay
The English Peasant Uprising was motivated by a growing contempt with the government and
clergy following the Black Death which was finally set off by a series of immediate social and
economic causes. A shortage of workers followed the Black Death with an estimated forty–five per
cent of the population dying in England . As entire towns were either deserted or left devoid of life,
rural peasants increased their mobility into major cities. This shortage of rural workers led to famine
as fields were left to go fallow, placing further economic pressure on the peasant classes who
survived as the price of food increased. Due to the lack of labourers, the labourers who survived
demanded greater wages as they now had increased leverage over ... Show more content on

Schools of thought such as held by the Lollards, followers of theologian and reformer John Wycliffe
whom acted as lay preachers, were held responsible for the Uprising as they were critical of the
church as an institution, particularly the concept of the Church owning land. As these Lollards
travelled and preached their opposition to the Church as temporal power, they resonated with the
peasants and became increasingly popular as unlike many of the priests and monks recruited after
the Black Death, they were observed to be genuinely pious . The already solid dissatisfaction with
the clergy only intensified with the imprisonment of a highly popular Lollard, John Ball. John Ball
was imprisoned at Maidstone in Kent when he came into conflict with Simon of Sudbury
Archbishop of Canterbury for lay preaching. The Hundred Years war with France is still ongoing at
this point which was also adding further pressure to the lower classes due to the taxes needed to
fund it. The war was very expensive, which meant more taxes had to be put in place to compensate
for the lack of people paying taxes on account of forty–five per cent of tax payers being dead. Not
only were wages fixed by parliament, but parliament demanded more money from a populace
already financially struggling under fixed wages and inflated food prices. The stresses of the
Hundred Years War only intensified with the death of Edward III in 1377

124. Symbolism In Crooked River Burning By Mark Winegardner
Most novels include some type of symbolism that plays an important role in the dynamic and the
plot development of their storyline. In the novel Crooked River Burning by Mark Winegardner, one
symbol remains prevalent throughout the entire book. The city of Cleveland and the crooked
Cuyahoga river plays an incredible role in the interconnections between the characters of the story.
As the Cuyahoga river divides the East and West sides of the city, it also, in turn, divides the two
star–crossed lovers Anne O'Connor and David Zielinsky. However, the thing that makes them so
different is also the very thing that brings them together. The downfall and upbringing of Cleveland
directly influences and nearly parallels the complicated and ever–changing relationship between
Anne and David. Cleveland is described as one of the greatest cities in the world at the beginning of
this novel. The Indians are having a winning season and have started integrating their team, Elliot
Ness is taking down crime left and right with the Untouchables, Dorothy Fuldheim is reinventing
United States television as she becomes the first woman news anchor in history, the local
newspapers are soaring in sales and publicity, and Alan Freed is creating rock and roll through his
radio show. The two main characters of the novel, David Zielinsky and Anne O'Connor, both
witness these successes and innovations firsthand, albeit in slightly different ways. David grows up

128. Brief Description Of The Business Model Of Adidas
Brief description of Business Model of Adidas.
Adidas' business model is represented in a variety of aspects. Those of which will be discussed
include technology, sell channels, customers, ability to innovate and geography. The technological
advances in the last ten years means Adidas are more accessible to customers than ever before.
Customers are able to shop online as well as on their smartphones causing a surge in demand. This
in turn affects their suppliers. Adidas need to invest more in suppliers to keep up with higher
demand. This means opening more stores, and Adidas have plans to expand worldwide by 2020, as
well as factories to produce their products. Growth in technology has a profound effect on Adidas'
business model.
Sell Channels of Adidas also change with growing technology and with growing trends in the
fashion and sport industry. Adidas sell channels include from production in factories to stores and
outlets and finally to the consumer. This however isn't the only sell channel Adidas use. There is also

In this group project, we discuss two cities – Houston and Dallas about their own background,

Houston city's history and background, by using the timeline, it is easy to consider the economy,
politic, education and transportation for each of the city chronology. In this way, we can finally

suitable solutions for the future plan, which we called blue print, to help the city expansion.
History of Houston
Houston is the most populous city in Texas, the largest city in the Southern United States and the
fourth most populous city in the United States. According to the 2012 U.S. Census estimates, the

There are many ways to define Northern Ontario, however, I believe the most accurate geological
definition of Northern Ontario was defined by the Ontario Census Division. Northern Ontario
encompasses over a large percentage of provincial landmass, stretching from Parry Sound, north to
the shores of Hudson Bay, west to the border of Manitoba and east to the border of Quebec (Map

These challenges include unstable economic conditions, especially for communities tied to natural

data for migration, it was shown that communities with the lowest percentage of in–migrants tend to
be Aboriginal and forest dependent, while communities with the highest percentage of in–migrants
are in the southern parts of the region and based on mining. The Census Research stated that the
economic growth in Northern Ontario has been significantly less than the provincial due to the
declining of the population. The Northern Ontario's population density is described as 1 person per
kilometer, while Southern Ontario's population density is 104 people per kilometer. Another major
obstacle that faces the enterprises as well as the residents of Northern Ontario is the geographical

Claire Conti
AP Literature
Mrs. Scruggs
29 August 2017
A Room With A View Lucy is a young woman born and raised in 19th century England, when the
country was in its prime. England was the world power, causing it to be extremely wealthy and a
safe place to live. Lucy and her aunt go on vacation to Italy, and her eyes are opened to a whole
other world. During the time, Italy was a scummy city where the poor lived, but she is able to
discover herself while vacationing there. Within Italy, she finds love, adventure and exhilaration that
she could never experience in her homeland. In A Room with a View by E. M. Foster, Lucy's
character is dynamically developed from uptight and predictable to full of adventure and excitement
as she travels between the prime and proper England to the dirty and unkempt Italy. England is
clean, neat and boring, which makes Lucy predictable and boring due to the structured life she is
forced to live. The buildings within the city of London are simply lackluster in both looks and
character. As Lucy gazes upon a meadow, she notices how "pretty cottages lined it on two sides, and
the upper and third side was occupied by a new stone church, expensively simple" (82). There is no
exciting architecture in England, but everything is very old and very expensive. The diction used to
describe the buildings and the city illustrates how archaically beautiful England is, but highlights
how humdrum it becomes it Lucy. Then, when she returns from Italy, she is

Persepolis Twentieth century holds many enormous changes within all sections of life, graphic

terminology to shape the story. One of the popular novels among graphic novels is Persepolis which
is about the story of the writer's childhood– Marjane Satrapi. The narrative graphically and textually
tells about the events including removing Reza Shah from power and replacing him by his son,
ending western power over Iran, and fighting between Iran and Iraq which happened during 1979 –
1988. Throughout these years Iranian people have gone through plenty of fluctuations and changes
which are analyzed in numerous ways by foreign people as in one of her interview Marjane states
that "From the time I came to France in 1994, I was always telling stories about life in Iran to my
