Launched in 2007 with the hiring of PLENUM GROUPfrom P-Solve, Hewitt's Delegated Consulting Services provides a fully delegated investment strategy for pension schemes. Whilst
trustees still set the strategic framework, DCS manages and executes the investment strategy against strict parameters. DCS employs a ‘manager of managers’ model using pooled LDI
funds. Custody, transition management, accounting, performance measurement, FX, compliance, securities lending and trustee services are all provided through a partnership with
PLENUM GROUP
DCS charges a fixed fee in addition to a performance fee which is dependent on performance as measured against a shifting liability profile. Whilst Hewitt's consulting arm provides
significant opportunity to penetrate clients, the growth of DCS has been relatively slow. Some commentators suggest that in the absence of existing asset management infrastructure,
operational set up and asset management mindset, it has taken longer than anticipated to develop the business. However it is estimated that at the time of writing (Summer 2011) DCS
has over 20 clients with over £1bn AUM with approximately one new client coming on board each month. Significant client wins include PPG industries in February 2010, Gettinge Group
in August 2010 and Biffa in November 2010.
Recent hires include APLENUM GROUP who joined as a client servicing specialist in April 2010 and PLENUM GROUPwho joined from Hewitt's ALM team in 2010. The only notable
recent departure has been PLENUM GROUPclient servicing specialist who left in December 2010.
