Overview of The Big Brew
The Big Brew – BQe Youth Entrepreneurship Summit 2011 is a one day summit held in conjunction
with Global Entrepreneurship Week Malaysia campaign that gathers the brilliant minds and
established leaders in the local and global entrepreneurship scene to impart their knowledge and
also to provide sharing. The Big Brew strives to further inspire entrepreneurial minds from tertiary
education level who want to further develop their acumen in entrepreneurship in Malaysia with
strategic collaboration with Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) for the annual MSC
Malaysia-IHL Business Plan Competition (MIBPC) that will see the collaboration of MDeC and BQe
from the month of September 2011 until May 2014.

Mr Huang is a recipient of the MoHE Grant to research on key aspects of entrepreneurship in
Malaysia for the year 2011/2013. It will be the first time parts of this research are disclosed to the
public, and we are glad to let the youths to hear it first.



Who Are Eligible to Attend?
The BQe Summit 2011 is complimentary and open to all entrepreneurial youths from the tertiary
education level in Malaysia below the age of 30 years.

 The registration is only applicable to Active Students in all local and private institution of
higher learning with active Student Registration Card.
 Participants without the display of proper student identification during the day of summit
will be denied entry to attend the sessions.
 Students with letter of support from their University will be awarded with certificate of
completion of the 7 Entrepreneurship Sessions during the summit. The certificates will be
issued by the Ministry of Higher Education. All certificates can be only collected by the
respective name bearer.
 Youth Entrepreneurs with a maximum of 3 years upon leaving their respective Institute of
Higher Learning are also eligible to register as a participant.

Brewing Quality Youth Entrepreneur Association
Brewing Quality Youth Entrepreneur Association (Reg: PPBM 7754/11) is a
not-for-profit youth NGO registered with the Registrar of Youths in
Malaysia. We were formed officially in the month of September 2011
after being an active youth movement since August 2010, organizing
regular complimentary events and catering to the needs of the youth
entrepreneurs in Malaysia by providing talks and workshops. Our
members are volunteers and we are active among institute of higher learning in Malaysia targeting
the development of entrepreneurship among the students.

Our Aim
 Encourage entrepreneurship among youths mainly in universities
 Develop innovation and impart entrepreneurial skills among university students and youths
 Provide a sharing and networking platform for future entrepreneurs
 Bridge the gap among university students with VCs and entrepreneur support

Our MISSION
To bridge the gap between aspiring entrepreneurs from tertiary education level with entrepreneurial
support either from the government or private sector or given access to private funding in Malaysia
with proper empowerment and imparting of skills.

Our VISION
To see more youth entrepreneurs from university level driving the nation forward as SME
owners and to create more businesses and job opportunities in Malaysia.

 The summit itself will be a pre-requisite for all applicants of the competition to

MSC MALAYSIA-IHL BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION
(MIBPC) 2011/2012

About MIBPC
In line with MSC Malaysia's vision to transform Malaysia into a knowledge economy, the
MSC Malaysia IHL Business Plan Competition (MIBPC) continues to be the nation's foremost
business plan competition that attracts the innovative minds of Malaysia's new generation.
Challenging their creativity and capacity in business, science and technology, the aim of the
competition is to create a new genre of successful technology entrepreneurs
(Technopreneurs) that takes charge of their own destinies and create employment
opportunities for the good of the community.
The Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) in alliance with the Institutions of Higher
Learning (IHLs) in Malaysia founded the competition in 2004 under the National Unipreneur
Development Programme (NUDP), which is anchored by MDeC's Technopreneur
Development Division (TED). TED carries the mission of building an ecosystem for the
growth of a critical mass of sustainable K-based ICT companies that will contribute to high
economic growth.



Objectives
The objectives of the 2011/2012 MIBPC are as follows:
 To inculcate a culture of technopreneurship in Institutions of Higher Learning
 To create exposure and knowledge of key competencies required to become
successful technopreneur;
 To encourage students & researchers from diverse backgrounds to share their
business ideas, and form teams that leverage on both technology and business
competencies;
 To identify commercially viable ideas & compelling IP (Intellectual Property) for
development into ICT SMEs.

Brewing Quality Entrepreneurs (BQe) as Supporting Partner
BQe is to provide support in reaching out to all students in universities to provide awareness
with regards to the MIBPC and entrepreneurship via its partners in the university level. The
following series of events will be organized by BQe in collaboration with its partners, mainly
AIESEC Malaysia via its local university chapter in the National University of Malaysia (UKM)

 Global Workshops facilitated by International Students who are part of the AIESEC
Student Exchange Programme
 Discovery and Learning trip to Technology Park Malaysia involving over 200
entrepreneurial minds and MIBPC applicants nationwide
 National level Innovation Fair to be organized in conjunction with the Innovation
Year 2011 and to showcase the innovation of MIBPC applicants
 Finals of the MIBPC together with AIESEC Entrepreneur Learning Network (EYLN)



Summary
The Big Brew - BQe Youth Entrepreneurship Summit 2011 will be the beginning of a
continuous entrepreneurship development programme that BQe will be working closely
with MDeC and MoHE. BQe positions itself as the premier student entrepreneurship and
networking platform targeting tertiary education level students as well as young adults for
developing entrepreneurship attitudes and skills. The one-day summit is aimed at instilling
more entrepreneurial values to the participants by providing inspiration, motivation,
encouraging networking and knowledge sharing among the youths.
