Most are focused on preventing the transmission of STD's and unwanted pregnancies.
A consumer report published in February 2005 rated condoms according to strength and reliability. It is based on how much air can be held with the top 7 all able to hold more than 25 litres of air and their reliability where personal usage can play an important role.
Sex Facts for Young Adults
Among the 15- to 24-yearolds who had had intercourse in the past year, about one-third had done so with more than one partner. Males were more likely than females to have had multiple partners: 37% versus 25%. In 2003, about 6 in 10 young people aged 15 to 24 reported having had sexual intercourse at least once in their lives.
The proportion of 15- to 24-year-olds that had had sex was significantly higher than the national figure in Québec (74%), as well as in Newfoundland and Labrador and New Brunswick (both 68%). In British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Ontario, the figures ranged from 55% to 58%, all significantly below the national average.
Just under 4 in 10 sexually active 15-to-24 year-olds who had been with multiple partners in the past year and/or who were single had not used a condom the last time they had intercourse. Females were more likely than males to have intercourse without a condom, a finding consistent with other studies.
For females, reporting sex without a condom was related to age at first intercourse. Close to 60% of those who started having sex by age 13 reported not using a condom the last time they had had intercourse. This compares with 46% of females who began having sex at ages 14 to 17, and 37% of those who began at ages 20 to 24.
Sex without a condom was most common at ages 20 to 24, with nearly 44% reporting that they had not used a condom the last time they had had Intercourse. This compares with 33% in the 18-to-19 group, and 22% of those aged 15 to 17. Even when other factors were taken into account, this relationship between age and condom use persisted. Again, it may be that long-term relationships with one partner are more common in the older age group and thus condom use is perceived to be less of a concern.
Condom Fast Facts
Public health agencies often report that condoms are effective 85% to 98% of the time, but the data is from population studies of pregnancy rates among couples who use condoms. Trojan insists its products, when used consistently and correctly, are 98% effective. James Daniels, VP of marketing for Trojan in the U.S., won't say if the company would support putting condom effectiveness rates on Trojan labels, but points out consumers spend only 10 seconds deciding which condoms they want.
-34671055943518954755594354050030559435Retail Space Check – Shoppers Drug Mart
-781051034415The dominate player in this market is Trojan then, Durex and Lifestyles with other manufacturers such as ONE also on the Canadian Market.
