targeted in todays society. How you're classified is based on things such as a persons race,
intellect, social class, and appearance. A 2009 film, The Blind Side, written and directed by John
Lee Hancock stars, Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw, is based on a true story. This movie tells a
story that truly depicts simple acts of kindness that has the capability to change a persons life. This
movie based off of a southern family living in Memphis, Tennessee will show you a true taste of
southern hospitality. In every film you have your list of characters along with their personalities and
most importantly their motives. Along with the certain qualities of every character comes the ethos,
pathos, and logos. Ethos which stands for the goodness of a film and/or ethics goes hand in hand
with the sender of a film, Pathos which is the passion and emotions of a film which goes hand in
hand with the receiver, and lastly the logos which is the logic/information that sends a message. Each
rhetoric sends a message and surely puts a movie together. Leanne Tuohy, plays a huge role in the
ethos factor. Her ethics as a person that the director created for her character shows compassion,
kindness, and selflessness. Mrs. Tuohy takes in an African–American poverty stricken male, Michael
Oher, on a rainy evening. Her senses told her that he did not have a place to go so kindly enough
she offers him her home resorting on him sleeping on a spare couch. Pulling up to the Tuohy's
residence Michael was in awe at the size of their home or shall I say mansion, little did he know
that he would eventually become a part of this family shortly. Leanne shows character by her
gentleness with Michael, knowing he came from a rough part of town and was not as fortunate.
She not only gives to Michael as if he was her own, but she also cares for him as if he was her
own. At a brunch with fellow friends a comment was made by one of her friends, "Honey, you're
changing that boys life" as Leanne replies she says, "No he's changing mine." The overall ethos of

The Blind side is considered one of the best sports biographies and one of the best sports related
inspirational stories. The blind side was published in 2006 and was written by Michael Lewis. This
book is based on a Memphis native, Micahel Oher's. The Blind Side contains two stories within its
plot. One story begins with Michael Oher. The book explains the trials and tribulations of the young
African American teenager. Micheal was from one of the worst neighborhoods in Memphis. He
lived with anyone would would give him a place to stay for them night, The story follow his

The next day Leigh Anne Tuohy wakes up and realizes that Michael is nowhere to be found and

after he was born. Michael ends up homeless and with nothing but the clothes on his back, until he is
moved to a new school where he meets the Tuohys. The Tuohyfamily soon discover that he has
nowhere to go and takes him into their home, after living with them for a while the Tuohys

member from the other team kicked Michael in the head. Michael did nothing to react in a
threatening way, he just continued laying on the ground. His couch asked the referee why the other
team did not get a penalty for kicking Michael. The referee then waved his yellow rag and called
"un–sportsman like conduct" for Michael team, despite the fact that they did not do anything
wrong. Another example of discrimination towards Michael on the field was when he was
blocking a player on the other team. Michael did not execute any foul plays, yet the referee's
called out his team. The coach asked the referee what they did wrong and they responded by
saying, "I don't know... excessive blocking." The referee's obviously did not have a significant
reason for blowing their whistles and they likely would not have mentioned it if Michael was

Leigh Ann places many of these virtues high on her list of importance and follows through with
her beliefs. These qualities are also related to leadership because a good leader must have these
virtues. Some leadership examples that Leigh Ann shows in this movie are identifying strength
in others and drawing out the best in others. She does this with Michael by finding his strength of
protective instincts and using it to benefit him, and then she uses this strength he has and
communicates with him in his terms. Leigh Ann is trying to be a leader in changing her
community and its beliefs ("Leadership With You", 2013). These situations can and do happen in
everyday life. Some situations are to this extreme but not always. Little things people do can help
change a community. If I were in the same situation as Leigh Ann was, I do not know that I could
have been as strong as her. I do have the same beliefs that she posed but I do not believe I have the
courage that it takes to be the leader that she was. However, if I was one of the different stake
holders in the movie such as faculty in the school, or one of her friends then I do believe I would
have been able to do the right thing. I would have backed her up completely and done whatever I
could have to help her accomplish the goal.

Fatlinda Osmani The Blind Side The Blind Side was a true movie about a homeless boy that had
a rough life until the Tuohy family took him in. As a child, he never had the chances that he did
when living with the Tuohy family. They then adopted the boy and became his legal guardian.
After that everything got better for Michael. I would recommend this to a friend because of all
the different important problems in this movie. Race plays a big part in this movie. Michael is
an African American boy, while his new family is white. Not only are their races different but
their social class is different. Michael was raised in the hood, while the Tuohy family was raised
in a nice neighborhood. Examples of these in the movie were when in the beginning Michael's
friend's father drives them through an affluent neighborhood to high school. He looks around like
he has never seen anything like it before. When he does get to school, he is not welcomed nicely
from his white classmates. Another example was when his adoptive mother goes to look for him
when he runs away. She goes to check in Hurt Village, which was where his biological mother used
to live. Her encounter with Alton, which was an African American, was a big cultural difference.
She tells him not to step on the other side of town, which shows how separated they are. Listening
was a big thing in this film. There were plenty of scenes about listening. The one that stands out the
most was when Michaels adoptive mom sits down

Based on the 2006 book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis, the 2009 film The
Blind Side is the true story of Michael Oher. Oher is an under privileged African American teenager
