17. “ New” literacies are categorized as new “ technical stuff ” and new “ ethos stuff ” by Lankshear and Knobel (2007). The former focuses on the functional use of new technologies, while the latter brings students immersive learning experiences which are “more ‘participatory’, ‘collaborative’, and ‘distributed’ in nature than conventional literacies.” (p. 9)
