1. National-level Faculty Development Workshop
On
`Challenges for Research in Wireless
Communication Technologies’
May 21-23, 2012
About the Workshop
The modern era belongs to a new wireless world indeed! The rapid growth of mobile cell phones,
Wi-Fi, and recently the wireless Internet is driving the whole world towards advanced Wireless
Communication Technologies. Let it be metropolitan/congested urban cities, or industrialized
economic zones, or even vast rural area; wireless voice/data/video communications is becoming
popular in every application. Wireless communication systems and networks are being installed and
commissioned in many towns and cities every day throughout the world. Local residents as well as
visitors at any location use handheld wireless devices and laptops, to remain connected with rest of
the world. The availability of more and more RF spectrum in higher band (1 GHz and more) for
mobile communications, mobility awareness in civilized society, global standardization of wireless
devices and products, expansion of business using information technology and many more such
factors are leading towards huge growth rates in wireless communication technologies. The advent of
new mobile applications and high-speed data transmission techniques will bring ubiquitous
multimedia mobile computing reality sooner than later.
So there is a need of hour to keep abreast with related research areas as well as finding solutions to
challenging issues. The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Chitkara
University Punjab proudly announces a national-level faculty development workshop on
`Challenges for Research in Wireless Communication Technologies’ during May 21-23, 2012.
2. Scope of Workshop
This Workshop will cover divergent topics ranging from fundamentals of cellular mobile
communications to emerging wireless networking technologies. The workshop will address most of
the contents specified in the curriculum of cellular & mobile communications, wireless
communication systems & networks, advanced wireless communications, and many other allied
subjects at under-graduate as well as post-graduate level of Electronics and Communication
Engineering in different Indian technical universities and institutes.
The participants will derive various benefits such as
To equip themselves with best teaching material in related courses
To get familiarized with simulation tools
To publish technical papers in journals and conferences
To identify research areas for their M.Tech. and Ph.D. work
The Workshop Course Outline and Schedule
Three-day workshop will be conducted via an integrated presentation of theoretical and practical
aspects. Theme of the workshop is to find answers to challenges for research …..
Acquire requisite knowledge
Practice it
Identify problems and issues
Evolve probable solutions
And finally ….. RESEARCH, RESEARCH, AND RESEARCH ….
