MUSIC CONNECTIONS BETWEEN WAR PROPAGANDA AND AQWF
                                          These songs have a
                                          very happy tone, which
                                          is probably to reassure
                                          possible enlisters that
                                          their country will indeed
win the war, and the PROPAGANDA POSTERS
                                          men will be back with
                                          their loved ones in no
                                          time. This, of course,
directly contradicts the These posters show that each country is nearly guaranteed to
message of All Quiet on win the war, and is trying to show all the positive aspects of war.
the Western Front, since Countries, of course, need people to fight for them, but they
that book conveys how donʼt want to scare potential enlisters away with the negative
the war was very aspects of war, so they need to convince these people that they
depressing, and that are close to winning the war. There is not a lot of difference
there was actually very between both countries, although it does seem that Britain
little hope among the comes up with more specific examples of how Germany is evil,
soldiers. while Germany uses more general words against Britain.

OVERALL ANALYSIS: Initial thoughts on posters:
The music and propaganda posters seem to put
the war in a more positive light, brushing over the Posters definitely trying to
fact that the soldiers are actually risking their lives reassure the people
in the war, and that the war is merely there to grant many are probably deceptive
the soldiers glory. However, the poems seem to fooling people into enlisting Sites for these posters:

                                 POETRY http://www.firstworldwar.com/

“HOW TO DIE”
               Comparisons between poems and AQWF:
Both the poems and the book All Quiet on the
Western Front show the constant presence of
death in the soldierʼs lives. However, unlike
the book, the poem How to Die, actually
shows the perspective of a dying soldier. Even
though we see people die in the book, the “ANTHEM FOR A DOOMED YOUTH”
book never gave a real perspective of what
one goes through before he/she dies.
