consider the resistance network to the right of the current source in the figure
lets first simplify this part by finding the equivalent resistance for the all these resistors
20K and 40 K are in series ==> net of them is 60k
now this net 60k is parallel to 20k
so the net of them is 20k*60k / 20k+60k = 15k
this is in series to 15k
so overall net resistance to the right of current source is 30k
9mA is to be divided between the left resistance i.e 60k and right net resistance i. e 30k
ratio of the resistances . i.e 60k :30k = 2:1
the current divides in the inverse ratio of the resistances . i.e 1:2
so Io = 1/3 * 9mA = 3mA
