We will show you 8 cathedrals of England and how they
ey still attract many visitors to come and seek these
majestic and spectacular cathedrals.
We will also tell you a short history of where the first cathedrals
came from.
We will also give you a quiz at the end of this
presentation. We hope you enjoy your visit around these

3. Where was the first cathedral built?
The first cathedral built was Canterbury. This cathedral
was built because.the Origins of Canterbury Cathedral.
St Augustine, the first Archbishop of Canterbury, arrived
on the coast of Kent as a missionary to England in 597
AD
4. Durham cathedralddddd
Durham is a majestic cathedral built in 995Ad to hold the safe
relics of St Cuthbert from Lindisfarne.
It was completed between 1093 and 1120 which the cathedral had
many different places. Today the cathedral is a majestic religious
place to sit, read and see the cathedral through it’s history and a
tour of the cathedral near the River Wear.
5. Lincoln Cathedral
Lincoln Cathedral was built during 1079 after the castle of
Lincoln was first built with King John’s Magna Carta.
The cathedral is on a dramatic hill overlooking the splendid
market town of Lincoln. You can see the nave, chancel and pupilt
of this holy cathedral in Lincoln.
6. St paul’s cathedral
After the destruction of the Great Fire Of London, Sir
Christopher Wren built a new traditional cathedral in 1675 which
lasted until 1723 to build.
The cathedral has had major services such as Diana’s wedding,
the funerals of Thatcher, Nelson and Churchill.
Today the cathedral is a historical landmark in London and it
attracts many visitors to come and seek this amazing cathedral.
7. Worcester cathedral
Worcester Cathedral was built between 1084 and 1504.
The cathedral was firstly built by St Wulfrid who came to
build a majestic cathedral overlooking the River Severn in
Worcester.
The cathedral is very gothic and King John and St Wulfrid
are buried inside. The cathedral is open to the public and
you can majestic views over the town and the River
Severn.
8. York minster
York Minster is the oldest and most grandest cathedral in
England. The cathedral is the second best cathedral after
Westminster and Lincoln.
York was first built in the 11th century after the Vikings and
Normans came to build a cathedral overlooking the River Ouse
and the town.
Today, York Minster attracts many visitors to come and worship
here in the cathedral with their families.
9. Hereford cathedral
Hereford Cathedral was built in 1070 and the cathedral is
located on a hill in Hereford. The cathedral was first built in
792 AD.
Today the cathedral holds services and vistiing hours for the
public to look round this majestic cathedral in Hereford.
10. Leicester Cathedral
Leicester Cathedral is a historical and vibrant cathedral in the heart of
Leicester. The cathedral was first built in 1088 and decidated to St Mary.
In the chancel, there is a monument to Richard III, after finding his
remains last year, he will be re buried in 2015. The cathedral also has a
glass window decidated to the lives lost in the First World War.
11. Westminster abbey
The crowning jewel of Westminster has guarded over the city of
London since 1066 after William the Congureo became king of
England.
The cathedral has had major services to the Royal family and the
public including the Royal Wedding of Prince William and the
funeral of Diana in 1997. Today the cathedral is open to the
public.
