How Olivia Van Giap's Music Video and Ancillary Products Reflect Her Fun Personality
1. How effective is the
combination of your main
product and ancillary texts?

2. Firstly I key factor which I needed to consider before creating my music
video and ancillary products is that I would need to be aware that there
needs to be some kind of link which allows them all to be together within
some kind of order. This would hopefully mean that it would make them
successful and give the products a professional look. For it to be a house
digipak it would therefore mean that it would need to be a prominent
throughout. Then it therefore means that the style would need to be
reflective of my artists ideologies and also values as the products. This
means that overall it should overall showcase who the artist is overall.
3. My artist Olivia Van Giap is all about fun and excitement which would
hopefully mean that the finished products would reflect on the artist.
Instead of primarily using dull colours which connotation is professional I
decided to use bright bold colours which have connotations of being
happy and having fun . This would hopefully come across as reflective on
the artists personality and also star image. So throughout the ancillary
products the connotations were carried and then when considering the
video we opted to involve this by some of the clothing items and the
woodland decoration.
4. Overall personally I believe that not just the digipak but the magazine advertisement as
well reflect on the music video. For example the music advertisement image used was
actually also included as footage within the video. When considering the background of
the digipak is a landscapes of different locations which is a link to the name of the album.
The mise en scene of the magazine advertisement is another factor which is similar to the
music video. This is also shown throughout the digipak as well which overall shows a
sense of continuity to all three products.

6. The images shown on the previous slide all show the continuity of my magazine
advertisement and also my digipak. We opted to use two characters for the digipak
however the continuity is still shown through the filter applied and also the typography
and mise-en-scene. This therefore allow my target audience to understand the link of the
products.
7. Colour scheme
When considering a music video it is clear to say that different colour
schemes as associated which different music genres. For example pop
music videos are bright colours and dark colours would be rock music.
My colour scheme applied was more conventional for pop music videos
however appealing due to the fact that it was more dance themed. My
colour scheme was definitely evident through the digipaks and
typography.
8. Synergy & Location
When considering my music product being a music video there is a lot of synergy however there
is minimal ancillary text. Factor which play a significant role would be points such as the main
theme as the song is called ‘good for you’ which could indicate the attitude of the younger
generation of which they ae quite selfish. So this highlights the attitude of the younger
generation even though they may not face materialistic possession, emotionally they are very
demanding. It was significant for us to create a music video which did not objectify women which
is often shown in house videos of women at the beach wearing close to nothing. So to overcome
this I wished to prompt self expression and also from the artists perception a passion for the
music.
9. To conclude my finished products have a dance vibe to them however
they still have a calming factor. The fact is my artist which opted to not be
involved within the digipak which therefore gave me a lot of freedom on
the designs and themes shown throughout the digipak. Something that is
appealing would be that the target audience would find it appealing
which is the most significant thing.
