Naam KUNSTENAAR (1939) Man’s Escape from the Melting Pot called “Society” Marcel Beeckman stelt een nieuwe reeks werken tentoon, en dat na een tijdje afwezig geweest te zijn op de Belgische kunstmarkt. Met deze bevestigt en verstevigt Marcel Beeckman zijn poëtisch lyrische visie op de schilderkunst en de wereld. Compromisloos werkt hij verder met emotionele hoogten en laagten, een fundamentele noodzaak die onvermijdelijk is voor deze expressionistische traditie waarin hij zichzelf situeert. Marcel Beeckman laat zich niet grijpen: zijn palet uitbundig, de sensatie van de kleur, de materialiteit van de verf, de textuur, nooit op louter esthetische abstracte manier, altijd gefundeerd in de realiteit van zijn leefwereld die verrassend universeel is. De gewone dagdagelijkse mensomgeving, de ratrace van het leven, flitsen van urbanisme, mobiliteit, de rush van de banaliteit: Marcel kijkt ernaar. Zijn beeldtaal laat zien dat dit “Schilderlandschap” door hem is gegleden, dit is schilderkunst van de ondervinding van het leven. Het is de drager van de contradictie: het directe, kinderlijke, dat zich op een raadselachtige manier heeft vermengd met de realiteit van de ervaring, de desillusie, de jaren. Deze mix getuigt van een ontroerende oprechtheid, een ode aan de schilderkunst, aan de verbeelding. Peter Rogiers.
