- The first three goals focus primarily on “basic climate science” while the fourth and fifth are concerned with impacts and adaptation. As the National Research Council noted in a 2007 review of the program, the agencies within CCSP have focused much of their budget and have made the most progress on goals 1-3, while goals 4 and 5 still require much work.
- Thinking through the ways the government operations and missions should be responding to the climate challenges already identified in the previous assessment, the US Impacts Report
- National Science and Technology Council, through the USGCRP, is fleshing out an S&T framework for climate adaptation that both informs policy with coordinated and new knowledge (e.g., decision-support) and feeds back new understanding of the science needs from policy implementation.
