Since last July….
We coordinated 756 volunteers
for RAGBRAI.
We collected over 1,300 pounds of
fresh produce at a Farmers’ Market.
HACAP continued the project and
collected another 1,300 pounds.
We also talked with over 500 people
about our Women’s Leadership
Initiative at a Farmers’ Market.
We added 8 Loaned
Executives to our team.
We were voted Best Charity by
CBJ readers!
We kicked off our campaign at the
National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library.
We were the first group to do an event in
the Grand Hall.
We brought together organizations to
create a video that showed the road
we have traveled.
Marc, Cathy and Ron helped
tell our story.
Together we can complete
the puzzle.
The Blue Man helped Raining Rose
with its Pacesetter Campaign.
Pacesetter Raining Rose
raised $33,145.

raised $50,018.

We held our first Condition of the
Community Event – Building
Tomorrow’s Workforce.
We learned that it takes a wage of
$18.08/hour for a single parent of
one to meet basic needs.
We awarded 3 campaign prizes!
Marci Wooff, who works at CRST and has given
to United Way for 27 years, won the October
prize – a refrigerator donated by Whirlpool.
Jake Zoss, from Cargill, won the
September prize – a Beautyrest Black
Mattress Set donated by Smulekoff’s.
Mary Cummings, Grant Wood
AEA, won $2,500 worth of gas gift
cards from Hawkeye Convenience
Stores.
After its September 2011
implementation, KPACE has helped 67
students receive training.
Jeri, a KPACE student, told her story
about earning her GED and how
that opened the door to
additional training.
We participated in the first
Giving Tuesday.
RED Ahead was able to reach
803 children in 2012.

Kelly Mulford, a Quaker Shipping 20
Powerball winner, announced at a
news conference that he was donating
$75,000 to United Way.
We honored 22 local middle and
high school students at our
Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon.
United Way 2-1-1 spent 1,038 hours
scheduling tax appointments, a service
valued at more than $25,789.
Over 122,000 donors gave
more than $10 million.

experience at Play & Learn.
Wayne is able to stay in his home

  • 2. We coordinated 756 volunteers for RAGBRAI.
  • 3. We collected over 1,300 pounds of fresh produce at a Farmers’ Market. HACAP continued the project and collected another 1,300 pounds.
  • 4. We also talked with over 500 people about our Women’s Leadership Initiative at a Farmers’ Market.
  • 5. We added 8 Loaned Executives to our team.
  • 6. We were voted Best Charity by CBJ readers!
  • 7. We kicked off our campaign at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library. We were the first group to do an event in the Grand Hall.
  • 8. We brought together organizations to create a video that showed the road we have traveled.
  • 9. Marc, Cathy and Ron helped tell our story.
  • 10. Together we can complete the puzzle.
  • 11. The Blue Man helped Raining Rose with its Pacesetter Campaign.
  • 15. We had great sponsors for our Leadership Giving Society events!
  • 16. Our Sinclair event was held at the Bairds’ house.
  • 17. Jill Hockaday, a long-time United Way supporter, shared with Sinclair members how she received services at Foundation 2.
  • 18. The Young Leaders hosted an event and heard from long time donors on why giving is important.
  • 19. Sondra Shaw-Hardy spoke at the Women’s Leadership Initiative Luncheon about women and philanthropy.
  • 20. We met with young professionals at the Next Gen Summit.
  • 21. Art Staed, Representative in the Iowa House, stopped by for a tour of our 2-1-1 facilities!
  • 22. We held our first Condition of the Community Event – Building Tomorrow’s Workforce.
  • 23. We learned that it takes a wage of $18.08/hour for a single parent of one to meet basic needs.
  • 24. We awarded 3 campaign prizes! Marci Wooff, who works at CRST and has given to United Way for 27 years, won the October prize – a refrigerator donated by Whirlpool.
  • 25. Jake Zoss, from Cargill, won the September prize – a Beautyrest Black Mattress Set donated by Smulekoff’s.
  • 26. Mary Cummings, Grant Wood AEA, won $2,500 worth of gas gift cards from Hawkeye Convenience Stores.
  • 27. After its September 2011 implementation, KPACE has helped 67 students receive training.
  • 28. Jeri, a KPACE student, told her story about earning her GED and how that opened the door to additional training.
  • 29. We participated in the first Giving Tuesday.
  • 30. RED Ahead was able to reach 803 children in 2012.

  • 34. Kelly Mulford, a Quaker Shipping 20 Powerball winner, announced at a news conference that he was donating $75,000 to United Way.
  • 35. We honored 22 local middle and high school students at our Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon.
  • 36. United Way 2-1-1 spent 1,038 hours scheduling tax appointments, a service valued at more than $25,789.
  • 37. Over 122,000 donors gave more than $10 million.
  • 38. Amanda Young spoke about her child’s experience at Play & Learn.
