Project Information (Cont.)
• About the Project:
‒ This project, in cooperation with Fairfax County,
will provide an important new link to Route 123
over the Capital Beltway (I-495) for commuters and
visitors to Tysons. The link will improve local traffic
and access for drivers, as well as provide a vital
option for area bicyclists and pedestrians.

• The half-mile project includes new roadway from the
interchange of the I-495 Express Lanes and Jones
Branch Drive to Scotts Crossing Road. Improvements
will also be made along the access road from Jones
Branch Drive to the Express Lanes, as well as along
Scotts Crossing Road.

transit

Project Information (Cont.)
• By providing an alternate route across the Beltway
and linking the Tysons East and Central areas, the
Connector is expected to relieve traffic along Route
123, at the I-495 interchange, and at other congested
intersections. The road is expected to carry more
than 32,000 vehicles per day by 2040.
• The project is being completed through a
combination of federal, state and county funds. It is
Fairfax County led design and development, while
VDOT is administering construction.

eastbound side of Route 8102 (approximately, Sta.
18+25 to Sta. 23+50). Construct new MSE retaining
wall.

and active before this portion of SR 8102 can
become active. Coordinate with Capital Beltway
Express for “burn-in” period on the ITS system.
3. Demolish existing abutment A and install pier for
westbound portion of B627.

new sidewalk along the Gates of McLean fence in the
same area.
6. Construct Capital One Service Road. Coordinate with
contractor of adjacent project to determine if the
portion of the road prior to this project's begin
construction (18+80) will be completed by the end of
this project.

least five (5) business days in advance using their
“Authorization to Work” form (available from the Express
