2. Changes in routine evaluation from 2nd May to 13th
August 2013
Genomic genetic evaluation
• Reference population RDC
– The 2-3 latest batches of progeny tested NRF bulls included from June 2013
• Low density chip
– LD (10K) genotypes are included from July 2013
– SNPs on the X-chromosome are no longer used (earlier included for RDC and Jersey) due
to problems with imputation (this change has only a small effect on results)
• Change use of SNP’s
– Earlier: selection of SNP’s at every run (allel frequency, ect.)
– Now: Fixed SNP’s at every run

Weight in NTM
• Reduced weight on yield for cows with own yield – only if no
genomic test

Effects of the changes 20130813:
 New SNP editing caused somewhat greater differences between EBV’s in
May and August compared to what is normally observed between runs. Also
slightly higher standard deviations and trends for all breeds
 The youngest RDC and Jersey heifers loses around 4-5 and 2-3 NTM units,
respectively, compared to pedigree indices
 The underestimation is also true for GEBV for NTM of young bulls due to the
same calculation methodology
• NAV is working to solve the probelm
• To be able to make a fair comparison between NTM for females with GEBV
or pedigree index, 4-5 units need to be added on the GEBV for females
born from 2011 and later (add 2-3 units on GEBV for JER)
• The same thing has to be considered when NTM for young bulls with GEBV
are compared to proven bulls

• Hvilken betydning har det at næsten alle Man-
o-man malkende døtre selv er genomisk
testet. Indgår disse døtre i hans deregressed
proff?
• Forventes GMACE Interbull I rutine næste
gang?
• Hvornår forventes hundyr i referencen?
• Kendes løsningen for at få testede dyr og ikke
testede på samme skala for RDM og Jersey?.

• Hvad er status mht. robot data og eksteriør?
• Er planen også at imputere alle QTL på det nye
LD chip til 54K (hvis man kan)?
• Forventes udveksling af genotyper med
Eurogenomics igen til November?
