2. YEARS IN SCHOOL
Preparingclass - preschool: You start in preschool when
you´re 5 or 6 years old and you go there one year an it´s
optionally.
Elementary school - involuntary: 1 - 9th grade, you go here
from the age of 6 or 7 until you´re 15 or 16, depending on what time
of the year you´re born.
Gymnasium - voluntary: 3 years of education, you choose a
specific education depending on what you want you´re future job to
be.

5. Homework: around 1-2 hours a day, more if it’s a test. Depends on the person.
Subjects:
Woodwork - learn how to make different things in wood like, shelves, spoons and boxes.
Needlework/Textiles - Learn how to sew different things like clothes and bags.
Home economics - Learn how to cook, bake, wash, dish, consume.
English - From 3rd grade.

6. MORE SUBJECTS
Optional Languages: German, French and Spanish
You start learning it from 6th grade.
NO - science subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Technics.
SO - civics: Geography, History, Religion and Social studies.
Art: Learn how to paint, edit and take pictures etc.
Music class/ Culture profile - two hours and 15 min music in
the week.

Recreation - Up to the 6 grade, costes money, take care of the children to arround 6 a
clock.
Leisure - You can go on sports or hang out with your friends.
Tv, sports, internet, friends, music, helping out at home, reading and homework.

8. THE VACATIONS
15,5 weeks of school is Vacation.
Summer Vacation: ca. 10 weeks
Autumn break: 1 week
Christmas Vacation: 2,5 weeks
Spring Break: 1 week (or as we say Sportlov)
Easter Break: 1 week.

We call our teacher by their first name
For Examlpe: Ulrika and Cecilia insted of Frau Coger and Frau Lind
We even call our headmasters by their firstnames.
At our school, we get our own computer from the school in 6 - 7 th grade.
And we keep it untill 9th grade.
