The document discusses the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme, a mandatory UK program that requires large organizations and public authorities to monitor and report on their carbon emissions and electricity/gas usage. It affects organizations using over 6000MWh of energy per year. Under the scheme, organizations must register and submit footprint reports annually to avoid penalties. The document provides advice on complying with the scheme, including understanding an organization's static footprint, developing a carbon reduction strategy, and looking for quick ways to reduce utilities and carbon in the first year such as installing solar panels or ground source heat pumps. It also presents a case study of modeling a hospital in VE virtual environment software to produce an energy report and EPC certificate.

Crc Presentation For Business Risk Seminar
1. The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme is Mandatory and has come into Force...... Are YOU ready? Reduce Carbon, Manage Energy, Remain Competitive .....strive to beat clients expectations
2. CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme What is the CRC Energy Efficiency scheme? New government legislation commenced 1st April 2010 Mandatory yearly CO2 emission monitoring Reduction of UK Carbon Footprint 35% by 2020 Reduction of business Utility Bills .......strive to beat clients expectations
3. CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme Does it affect YOU? Half hourly metered combined utility usage over 6,000MWh? Using less than 6,000MWh but still more than 3,000MWh? YOU need to disclose your usage. AreYOU a large organisation, college or public authority? DoYOUhave a carbon reduction team in place? YOUcan’t afford to ignore it! .......strive to beat clients expectations
5. CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme Don’t pay the penalty! If YOU register after the deadline 30th Sept - £5000 penalty Further penalties of £500 per day until registered No Footprint report by 31st July each year - £5000 penalty £0.05per tonne of CO2 per working day of report delay Doubled to £0.10 after delay of 40 days .......strive to beat clients expectations
6. CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme What YOU need to do now Many organisations have not yet considered the financial, compliance, audit and carbon management implications of the new regulations. It's therefore important to understand how the CRC will work and impact your organisation. .......strive to beat clients expectations
7. CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme What is the first steps of your footprint Understand your Static Footprint Monitor your Carbon usage and footprint Provide a 100% Carbon Reduction Strategy utilising specialist software Provide accurate monthly/quarterly/yearly carbon emission reports Save money and keep compliant Maintain good Public Relations .......strive to beat clients expectations
8. CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme What do YOU do next? Create a Carbon Management Reduction Plan Look at all the easy quick fix ways to reduce utilities and carbon Scottish applicants to the CRC apply through SEPA First plan to be submitted before end of Sept 2010 English/Welsh applicants to the CRC apply through the Environmental Agency Lets Stay compliant ! .......strive to beat clients expectations
9. CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme What can we do to reduce utilities and carbon in year 1?
10. CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme Wishaw General: Case Study The Project: Using the IES VE software package create a one to one scale 3-Dimensional model of Wishaw General Hospital, Lanarkshire. Complete a Sun cast Analysis of the created model which uses CIBSE Weather files, Location and Azimuth in order to create an accurate geometrical study Input building fabric, HVAC Systems, corrected Floor U-Values into the model to create to generate an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) and report. Input recommendations such as solar panels, biomass and ground source thermal heat pumps to calculate lower CO² emissions.
12. What is Virtual Environment software? IES <VE> offers the most comprehensive suite of whole-building energy, thermal and carbon emission analysis tools on the market. It enables the interrelated dynamics of a building and its surroundings to be assessed so designers can understand the effectiveness of a building and its energy systems right from the earliest stages of design – quickly and easily. The software enables us to build a model with or without CAD data. We can create a 3D model from scratch or from imported 2D DXF data within the ModelIT application. Here at Energy Solutions Consultants we have just began work on modelling a large NHS hospital to produce an accurate energy report and EPC.
