1. Observe facilitator communicating a safety

message.
2. Focus on eye contact. Identify poor and

good behaviors. Describe what behaviors
communicate.

questions. Handle questions effectively.
 Asking questions is an important skill that

can improve facilitation. Use questioning
with other facilitation activities.

 Factual
– Seek data, information, or facts
– Require 1 word responses such as yes or no
– Sometimes referred to as closed questions
 Open
– Calls for explanation
– Requires significant thought or analysis
– Usually begins with what, how, or why
