1. Welcome to SHS STaR Chart Presentation By: Ramsey Wright SHS History Dept.

2. What is the Texas STaR Chart? The STaR chart is used to collect and assess data on a campus’ progress towards meeting state and federal requirements concerning technology use in public schools.

3. How is data collected? Teachers in Texas take an online self-evaluation that includes questions in each of the following categories: Teaching and Learning Educator Preparation Administration & Support Infrastructure

4. Data Collection Cont. After the questions have been answered, each category will rank as a: Early Tech Developing Tech Advanced Tech Target Tech

5. So what’s the point? The goal is for a campus to improve every year, eventually becoming a “Target Tech” in all categories.

6. Why is technology important? Technology has the ability to individualize instruction so that every student can learn and maximize on his or her potential. Federal and state goals are for each student who graduates high school to be prepared for college, which will lead to higher college graduation rates.

9. In Review…… The STaR chart is an assessment that all teachers take to help improve technology use in the classroom. The goal is for each campus to successfully increase the use of the technology to individualize learning and better prepare our students for college.
