historians, for the Black and Indigenous women of North America a change of government
meant little in terms of immediate relief from the power structures that were already
oppressing marginalized people.Using the lecture, readings, and other resources in this unit,
explain what factors impacted the decisions Black and Indigenous women made during the
American Revolution. How did they choose which side to be on? What happened to Black
and Indigenous women who chose not to participate in the American Revolution? What
promises and bribes did the British and Patriots offer to lure Black and Indigenous women
to their side? Did either the British or the Patriots follow through on their promises?
