DESCRIPTIVE TEXT UN CHALLENGE

The following text is for questions number 1 to 3

          I live in Chinatown area or Pecinan in Semarang. It is a very crowded place. There are many
  klenteng (temples) here. One of them is Tay Kak Sie Temple in Gang Lombok which people visit
  regularly.
          Not far from the temple, there is a very popular tourist attraction which can only be found
  at night, Semawi night market. The name Semawis is derived from a Javanese term which means
  everything is available here, ranging from specialty foods, to Feng Shui consultation, to Karaoke.
          However, my favorite place that I always visit when I have a spare time is Pak Suharto’s
  workshop. The workshop is next to the Chinatown gate. In his workshop, he teaches his students to
  paint using Chinese ink. The ink is made from pine wood. People come to Pak Suharto’s workshop to
  order paintings, too. I love watching Pak Suharto drafting and painting his objects.

                                               EASTER ISLAND

           Easter Island is in the South Pacific, 3.700 km from the coast of Chile. On this island, there
  are 600 large statues. We don’t know who built them, but they are probably constructed between
  1150 and 1500. We don’t really know why they are there too.
           A Norwegian explorer, Thor heyerdhal, believed that they were built by people from South
  America. To prove this, he made a simple raft and sailed there, all the way from Peru.
           Archeologists think that the statues represent dead tribal leaders. We don’t know why the
  statues were left alone on the island. Perhaps the builders were killed by a disease or war. Perhaps
  they used all the natural resources on the island. There are many unanswered questions about
  Easter Island.

          Ampera bridge is one of the icon’s of Palembang City. It was built by Japan and was opened by
  President Soekarno in 1964; at that time it was longest bridge in South East Asia.
          The bridge across the River Musi is 177 meters long, 22 metres wide and 11.50 meters above
  the water surface. Formerly it was called Musi bridge but then in the 1970s it renamed Ampera Bridge
  (the people’s Hardship Mandate)

           Taj mahal is a Mausoleum that houses the grave of queen Mumtaz Mahal. The Mausoleum is a
   part of a vast complex comprising of a main gateway, an elaborate garden, a mosque (to the left), a
   guest house (to the right), and several other palatial buildings. The Taj is at the farthest end of this
   complex, with the river Jamuna behind it.
           It’s central dome is fifty-eight feet in diameter and rises to a height of 213 feet. It is flanked by

   decoration.
           Taj Mahal is built entirely from white marble. Its stunning architectural beauty is beyond
   adequate description, particularly at dawn and sunset. The Taj seems to glow in the light of the full
   moon. On a foggy morning, the visitors will see the taj as if floating when viewed from across the
   Jamuna river.

          The Indonesian archipelago is by far the world’s largest group of 13.667 islands which
  stretches across 5.120 km (3.200 miles) of tropical seas like a string of emeralds. When

  On a map Europe, the archipelago extends from Ireland past the Caspian Sea. More than 200 million

  • 1. DESCRIPTIVE TEXT UN CHALLENGE The following text is for questions number 1 to 3 I live in Chinatown area or Pecinan in Semarang. It is a very crowded place. There are many klenteng (temples) here. One of them is Tay Kak Sie Temple in Gang Lombok which people visit regularly. Not far from the temple, there is a very popular tourist attraction which can only be found at night, Semawi night market. The name Semawis is derived from a Javanese term which means everything is available here, ranging from specialty foods, to Feng Shui consultation, to Karaoke. However, my favorite place that I always visit when I have a spare time is Pak Suharto’s workshop. The workshop is next to the Chinatown gate. In his workshop, he teaches his students to paint using Chinese ink. The ink is made from pine wood. People come to Pak Suharto’s workshop to order paintings, too. A secret meeting conducted by a group of people to set a plan The following text is for questions number 4 to 6 EASTER ISLAND Easter Island is in the South Pacific, 3.700 km from the coast of Chile. On this island, there are 600 large statues. We don’t know who built them, but they are probably constructed between 1150 and 1500. We don’t really know why they are there too. A Norwegian explorer, Thor heyerdhal, believed that they were built by people from South America. To prove this, he made a simple raft and sailed there, all the way from Peru. Archeologists think that the statues represent dead tribal leaders. We don’t know why the statues were left alone on the island. Perhaps the builders were killed by a disease or war. Perhaps they used all the natural resources on the island.
