1. Interview Protocol for a Post Observation (reflection) Conference
Name of teacher: Yesenia Sepulveda School :Liceo Industrial Hualpén
1. In general, how successful was the lesson? Did the students learn what you intended
for them to learn? How do you know
In general, I consider that the lesson was great with some aspect that I have to
improve but as whole the lesson was developed as I had planned. The student learnt
all the contents that I intended for them to learn because they have to hand in the
worksheet about their written ideal routine , when I checked it, I saw that they
achieve in great way all the content that I taught in the lesson.
2. If you were able to bring samples of student work what do those samples reveals
about those students‟ level of engagement and understanding?
I have the opportunity to bring samples of my student work and those samples
reveals that student understand most of the content that I taught before. Also I have
to highlight the level of engagement of my students because most of them trying to
participate in the class.
3. Comment on your classroom procedure, students conduct and your use of physical
space. To what extent did these contribute to student learning?
Well in general the lesson had all the stages, presentation, practice and production.
Students follow the stage in a good way because they participate and contribute to
the class. I consider that I have to use more the physical space because I left
forgotten the row next to the window in some opportunities so I have to improve
this part. However, it is important to mention that the physical space contribute
students „participation and discipline in the class, since it is important to maintain
an active role in order to avoid talking and indiscipline.
4. Did you depart from your plan? If so, how and why?
No, I did not; In general the entire lesson was developed as I had planned before.
2. 5. Comment on different aspects of your instructional delivery (e.g. activities,
grouping of students, material and resources) To what extend were they affective?
Well in general I considered that the instructional delivery was effective. One aspect
important was related to activities; the activities that I planned for the lesson was
appropriate and limited to the content, simple exercises and simple practice. I took
the advantage to use the technological resources like data and computer to create a
power point presentation to engage the students „participation. In this opportunity I
preferred to select individual work instead to work group, in order to avoid the
indiscipline and appreciate the level of understanding. Finally it is important to
mention that there are some different aspects that I have to improve and manage like
Concept check questions because I finished to do the class like fifteen minutes
before the end of the period and my checking was poor since I just dedicated the
closing stage of the class to make questions and check knowledge.
6. If you had a chance to teach this lesson again to the same group of student, what
would you do differently?
From my point of view, the weakest part of this class was the last part (production
stage) since my instructions were not clear enough for the students, that is why they
were kind of confused at first and they did not develop the activity in a successful
way. Also I would like to improve some aspect in the pronunciation and grammar
because I made some mistake when I spoke, I feel more anxious when I speak for
that reason I made error. I have to be aware of this situation since a teacher does not
have to have error when she speaks. Another important issue that I would like to
improve is the use of physical space I consider that I have to move around more
time and be aware of the entire class do not concentrate in some of them. However,
I have to improve my concept check questions since my checking was poor and my
closing part was not good enough. All of these aspects I have to improve in order to
do well my performance in the class as Frank Howard says “Criticism, like rain,
should be gentle enough to nourish a man's growth without destroying his roots”.
