their weaving prowess. Pochampally is a small village in Naglonda district of Telangana.
Surrounded by hills, ponds, tanks and greenery, it is a nice haven to retreat to for the weekend. It
is township of weavers and almost all members of any family are professional weavers.
Pochampally sarees are unique as the weavers transfer the intricate design and coloring onto
warp and weft threads first and then weave them together. This is known as tie and dye. Of late,
natural dyes are being used increasingly to colour the fabrics. A curved frame with pegs called
'Chitkaasu' is used to create weft ikats.
Pochampally silks are tantalizingly soft, light and have a sheen that is unmistakable. They are
easy to drape and have a great fall. Chic and uber cool, you can wear these silk saris to work with
