Outlook Big chance for:
classification bodies,
smart TV platforms, connected devices,
desktop und mobile OSs and open app markets,
OTT services
(B2B & B2C, frontend and backend),
UGC-platforms (video, social networks),
search engine providers and
age-de as an existing labeling system.

Outlook Things that currently happen:
There is an initiative financed by the Spanish Government that aims at developing a
convergent age classification in Spain. They are currently planning to use the MIRACLE
specification for the electronic labels,
The German self-regulatory body for TV content (FSF) is currently planning to provide
their whole database online - they will either publish the data in MIRACLE format alone
or in parallel to other schemes,
Several mobile apps in the field of child protection and media education currently plan to
make use of MIRACLE data, as this is an easy way to aggregate many content
Talks with the RTL Group who consider MIRACLE as a potential standard for their
technical backend/internal content distribution to aggregate classification decisions from
different countries/schemes,

Editor's Notes
Providers of online content and services face highly fragmented systems of age classification, depending on country, region and type of medium.
Some of these systems experiment with electronic age labels, a few others already implemented proprietary ones.
Risk: The fragmentation of classification systems leads to the fragmentation of electronic labels. This would be the worst case for parental control software providers, content providers and end users.
What is needed is a common technical specification for the IT-based exchange of all existing and future classification data.
Advntages of technical interoperability of classification information:
Exchange and aggregation of fragmented classification knowledge and expertise
Opening up of national and international proprietary systems
Potential for the emergence of new systems without risks
Lowering of provider-side costs for labels (“one structure fits all”)
End users and business customers get more meta information
