Mankind’s existence is not accidental as though without purpose,
but humans by nature are capable of knowing meanings and purpose to
his life and his special place in nature.
Unlike animals, man’s reasoning faculty is summoned to reflect upon
the higher philosophical questions as to the meaning and purpose of life
which leads to the cognition of the existence of the Divine.
There is already and innate predisposition in him towards wanting to
serve (worship) someone or something.
Imam ‘Ali bin Abi Tolib r.a. said:Imam ‘Ali bin Abi Tolib r.a. said:

Those who claimed to be “atheists” even are in reality serving or
worshipping their own Selves (their desires).
““Have you seenHave you seen he who has taken as his god his [own] desirehe who has taken as his god his [own] desire, and Allah, and Allah
has sent him astray due to knowledge and has set a seal upon hishas sent him astray due to knowledge and has set a seal upon his
hearing and his heart and put over his vision a veil? So who will guidehearing and his heart and put over his vision a veil? So who will guide
him after Allah? Then will you not be reminded?”him after Allah? Then will you not be reminded?”

Mankind is calledMankind is called ((insaaninsaan) – a word whose roots is) – a word whose roots is
similar with the wordsimilar with the word ((nis-yaannis-yaan;; nasiynasiy)) ––
meaning “forgetfulness; to forget”.meaning “forgetfulness; to forget”.
Prophets came to ‘remind’; and thus the Qur’an is also named asProphets came to ‘remind’; and thus the Qur’an is also named as

Islam asserts that mankind, naturally has a pure instinctIslam asserts that mankind, naturally has a pure instinct
((fitwrah saleemafitwrah saleema) to know of God’s existence.) to know of God’s existence.

The ability to perceive the existence of a Supreme Being (God) is
innate in human nature ( Fitwrah), and it is this instinctive
cognition that explains why in every culture there is a term referring
to the Supernatural Divine - God.
In this verse we are told that, spiritually, our soul has already
testified to Allah’s Lordship prior to our physical sojourn on this
earth. Thus it is the Arabic term for “man” has that meaning “to
forget”, and messengers were sent but to be (MUDZAKKIR) the ones
to give “reminders” (DZIKR) to man, as well as the “Warner”
(NADZEERA) regarding the consequence for heedlessness of this
Reality.

It is the parents then who would make him to becomeIt is the parents then who would make him to become
a Jew or a Christian or a Pagan.”a Jew or a Christian or a Pagan.”

Thus Islam view humankind positively, free of blame or sins, left in
the care of parents. Each one of us are said to be upon the pure and
innocent nature of submission (“Islam”), but may be nurtured to
become otherwise.
Even if they veered into a deviant path, they still can or is expected
to continuously seek forgiveness and return to the path of Truth and
reformation (ISLAH).
Although human is not compelled because of his freewill, yet his
innate potentials are to be developed and actualised towards knowing
the truth. Those who are aware but reject truth is thus guilty of “KUFR”
“concealing; covering up; rejecting truth; or being ungrateful; ”

And those who know the Truth are to invite all with reasoning
and wisdom, appealing to their innate volition towards recognizing
the higher Reality and purpose, transcending this temporary
earthly existence. It is never hopeless.

““CONSIDER the flight of time!CONSIDER the flight of time! Verily, man is bound toVerily, man is bound to
lose himselflose himself unless he be of those who attain to faith,unless he be of those who attain to faith,
and do good works, and enjoin upon one anotherand do good works, and enjoin upon one another
the keeping to truth, and enjoin upon one anotherthe keeping to truth, and enjoin upon one another
patience in adversity.”patience in adversity.”

And those who know the Truth are to invite all with reasoning
and wisdom, appealing to their innate volition towards recognizing
the higher Reality and purpose, transcending this temporary
earthly existence. It is never hopeless.

Islam’s message is the message of Mercy and Allah’s Forgiveness,
and we must never despair in inviting all fellow man to Allah’s way.
““CALL THOU (all mankind] unto thy Sustainer's pathCALL THOU (all mankind] unto thy Sustainer's path with wisdomwith wisdom
and goodly exhortation, and argue with them in the most kindlyand goodly exhortation, and argue with them in the most kindly
manner- for, behold, thy Sustainer knows best as to who strays frommanner- for, behold, thy Sustainer knows best as to who strays from
His path, and best knows He as to who are the right-guided.”His path, and best knows He as to who are the right-guided.”

““No (don’t destroy them) ! But my hope is that AllahNo (don’t destroy them) ! But my hope is that Allah
will bring forth from their descendents, people whowill bring forth from their descendents, people who
worship Allah Alone, and do not set up partnersworship Allah Alone, and do not set up partners
(i.e. commit shirk) to Him. ”(i.e. commit shirk) to Him. ”
Prophet Muhammad’s reaction to suggestion for him invoke
destruction (as punishment ) upon his oppressors (Quraysh) :

When we enter into Islam, the “Shahaadahtain” constitute the
re-affirmation (reconnection) with our primordial (spiritual) bond
with our Creator Sustainer.
This bond is in-fact our “self-actualizing” which re-orientate and
align our aim and purpose of life upon a single TAUHEEDIC paradigm
: life of service and servitude to the One God through submission
and obedience, following His Last Messenger Muhammad s.a.a.w..

““And He is Allah; there is no deity except Him. To Him is [dueAnd He is Allah; there is no deity except Him. To Him is [due
all] praise in the first [life] and the Hereafter. And His is theall] praise in the first [life] and the Hereafter. And His is the
[final] decision, and to Him you will be returned.”[final] decision, and to Him you will be returned.”

““ Say: ‘O my servants who have transgressed against theirSay: ‘O my servants who have transgressed against their

Turn ye to your Lord (in repentance) and bow to His [Will],Turn ye to your Lord (in repentance) and bow to His [Will],
before the Penalty comes on you: After that ye shall not bebefore the Penalty comes on you: After that ye shall not be

Prophet Muhammad s.a.a.w. taught this important DU’A :

‘‘O AllO Allaah, You are my Lord, none has the righth, You are my Lord, none has the right
to be worshipped except You,to be worshipped except You,
You created me and I am Your servant and I abideYou created me and I am Your servant and I abide
to Your covenant and promise as best I can,to Your covenant and promise as best I can,
I seek refuge in You from the (consequence of the) evil ofI seek refuge in You from the (consequence of the) evil of
which I have committed.which I have committed.
I acknowledge Your favour upon me andI acknowledge Your favour upon me and
I acknowledge my sin,I acknowledge my sin,
so forgive me, for verily none can forgive sin except You.’so forgive me, for verily none can forgive sin except You.’
Prophet Muhammad s.a.a.w. taught this important DU’A :

““ButBut seekseek, through, through that which Allah has giventhat which Allah has given you,you, the home ofthe home of
the Hereafterthe Hereafter; and [yet], do not forget your share of the world.; and [yet], do not forget your share of the world.
AndAnd do good as Allah has done good to youdo good as Allah has done good to you. And. And desire notdesire not
corruption in the land.corruption in the land. Indeed, Allah does not like corrupters.“Indeed, Allah does not like corrupters.“

Let not the strutting about of the Unbelievers through the landLet not the strutting about of the Unbelievers through the land
deceive theedeceive thee (seemingly able to do as they please on earth):(seemingly able to do as they please on earth):
it is [but] a brief enjoyment, with hell thereafter as their goal –it is [but] a brief enjoyment, with hell thereafter as their goal –
and how vile a resting-place! –and how vile a resting-place! –
whereas those who remain conscious of their Sustainer (whereas those who remain conscious of their Sustainer (TAQWATAQWA))
shall have gardens through which running waters flow, therein toshall have gardens through which running waters flow, therein to
abide: a ready welcome from Allah.abide: a ready welcome from Allah. And that which is with AllahAnd that which is with Allah
is best for the truly virtuous.is best for the truly virtuous.””

affairs (of this religion), whosoever holdfast to them shallaffairs (of this religion), whosoever holdfast to them shall

In our existence, we have to be mindful of our life and all our
responsibilities and commitment which we are commanded to
bind ourselves to, or have taken upon ourselves towards those
whom we have covenanted (made contract/agreement) with.
Placing them in their rightful place, fulfilling or giving them their
just due becomes imperative especially when we realize we shall
most certainly be called to account for all them in the presence of
Allah azza-wajalla in the HEREAFTER.

AA ROPEROPE usually has many components, sub-components etc. Each, whetherusually has many components, sub-components etc. Each, whether

It is important to realize that it is with our striving to remainIt is important to realize that it is with our striving to remain
this state ofthis state of TAQWATAQWA that Allah SWT has made it as thethat Allah SWT has made it as the
gateway towards many of His promised bestowals.gateway towards many of His promised bestowals.
Let us consider some of these :Let us consider some of these :

““ And whoever (is conscious of and) fears Allah (And whoever (is conscious of and) fears Allah (TAQWATAQWA))
- He (Allah)will make for him a way out (from every- He (Allah)will make for him a way out (from every
difficulties). And will provide for him (difficulties). And will provide for him (RIZQRIZQ) from where) from where
he does not expect.”he does not expect.”

Apart from being cautious from transgression (havingApart from being cautious from transgression (having TAQWATAQWA),),
here the advise is towards 3 things:here the advise is towards 3 things:

self-accounting, especially scrutinizing our misdeeds (not theself-accounting, especially scrutinizing our misdeeds (not the
good);good);
[2][2] to effectively do this, one must acquire adequate understanding ofto effectively do this, one must acquire adequate understanding of
thethe DEENDEEN or knowledge of theor knowledge of the SHARI’AHSHARI’AH – while also strengthening– while also strengthening
of one’sof one’s AQEEDAHAQEEDAH that serves as the driver (motivation);that serves as the driver (motivation);
[3][3] to act uponto act upon ISLAISLAHH – (reform with reparation). The– (reform with reparation). The ADABADAB obviously isobviously is
with seeking forgiveness, and following through with (restitution /with seeking forgiveness, and following through with (restitution /
reparation) and much good or righteous deeds - with the hope forreparation) and much good or righteous deeds - with the hope for
Allah’s Mercy and Magnanimity.Allah’s Mercy and Magnanimity.

““O you who have believed, (be conscious of and) fear AllahO you who have believed, (be conscious of and) fear Allah
((TAQWATAQWA). And let every soul look to what it has put forth for). And let every soul look to what it has put forth for
tomorrow - and fear Allah (tomorrow - and fear Allah (TAQWATAQWA).).
Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do.Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do.
And be not like those who forgot Allah, so He made them forgetAnd be not like those who forgot Allah, so He made them forget
themselves. Those are the defiantly disobedient (themselves. Those are the defiantly disobedient (FAA-SIQUNFAA-SIQUN).).
Not equal are the companions of the Fire and the companions ofNot equal are the companions of the Fire and the companions of
Paradise. The companions of Paradise - they are the attainersParadise. The companions of Paradise - they are the attainers
[of success] –[of success] – FAA-IZUNFAA-IZUN.”.”

In interacting with people, our Prophet s.a.w. commands usIn interacting with people, our Prophet s.a.w. commands us
to adopt the best manner in our disposition (to adopt the best manner in our disposition (AKHLAQAKHLAQ), which), which

Our existence thus, has to do with relationship which must
even be extended towards the rest of mankind and the universe,
and transcends the notion of space and time, into the realm of
timeless eternity, which ultimately we will all be brought back
to.
Thus to keep in view of this ‘whole picture’ – with TAQWA –
would be to have adequate knowledge of all that concerns our
final return to Allah – AL-AAKHIRAH (Hereafter). And to strive,
with this conviction borne of IIMAN in Allah SWT – as our aim:

If you keep seeking the jewel of understanding, then you are a mine of
understanding in the making.
If you live to reach the Essence one day, then your life itself is an
expression of the Essence.
Know that in the final analysis you are that which you search for.
