• What is a storyboard?
– Storyboards are graphic organizers combining two
main parts: images and descriptions of a scene
• What is the purpose of storyboarding?
– helps manage timing of production opportunity for
problem solving
– portrays basic idea of the production
– illustrates to others how the final product is seen
– helps clarify a vision to the rest of the production
team
– used to sell an idea to a client

6. Group Task
1. Each group must come up with an idea for a 30 second sequence for a TV Drama
based in a college.
2. You will need to do the following:
a. Think of an appropriate name
b. You will need to create detailed characters (consider if they are going to challenge or follow
representations)
c. Think of the narrative that you want to base the sequence on
3. You must also decide what channel and the time that their TV Drama will be
broadcast
4. You will need to use all of the filming techniques we have just discussed
5. You will then need to complete a storyboard
6. You will not be editing these sequences; you will need to edit in camera
7. You will be filming this next lesson so come prepared with props, costumes etc
