1. Mock ups Feedback:
After completing the mock ups for my Front cover, contents page and double page spread, I
gathered the opinions of my target demographic. I did this to find which one was the most
effective layout to use in my final design.
1st front cover: they found it had good complexity, well laid out and liked that it had a
balance like having a puff in each corner and the coverlines surrounding the image on both
sides. 2nd Front Cover: unconventional, good use of space, including creative ideas. 3rd front
cover: unconventional movement of the main image, different shapes, it was different and
unique. I agree with them and that they prefer the 3rd layout because in unconventional and
therefore unique, I will use this layout in the final design.
1st Contents page: they thought it was a little crammed but neatly laid out and also the use
of mini advertisements. 2nd contents page: they thought it was very informative and a lot to
take in but a good idea of presentation. 3rd contents page: again they thought it was
compact but neat. I will take their ideas for ways to improve it but I will take some good
parts from each design and incorporate them into the final piece.
1st Double page spread: they thought that the idea was too simplistic and that it leaves little
room to fit in the entire article. 2nd double page spread: they though it was complex and had
a lot going on but it was cleverly laid out, another thing was that they thought that there
should be a main image rather than just a collection. 3rd double page spread: they especially
liked how all the conventions surrounded the main image, ‘clever’, ‘unique’, and the links to
social networking sites. I agree and think that the final design is the best but I may
incorporate some elements of the second to add into the final design to make it better.
Their opinions and advice were very helpful in creating the final layouts; I will take their
advice and incorporate them into my final design.
