This document provides information and suggestions for Oklahoma Education Association (OEA) members to participate in the 2013 OEA elections by voting online between March 1-29. It outlines how to log in and vote using the OEA website. It encourages local leaders to promote voting and provides ideas like holding voting sessions in computer labs or with mobile devices to make voting accessible and entering voters in a prize drawing. 7. Organizing Members to Vote
• Collective Voice –
The OEA is the collective voice of its members. In essence, YOU
are the OEA and your voice makes a difference.
• Collective Action –
Action is required for any change. The members you choose to
represent you on the state level help make the decisions that
affect your classroom and your profession as a whole.
Become part of the process by casting your ballot.
8. Organizing Members to Vote
• Remember –
While online voting is much easier (no paperwork, votes are
counted as soon as they are cast, no returning ballots to HQ,
etc.), it is no less important. Local leaders are asked to
encourage their members to vote and, if possible, make
voting easily accessible for them.
9. Ideas & Incentives
• Hold an Association meeting in your building's computer lab
and ask members to vote during the meeting.
• Set up a laptop, iPad or other tablet in the teachers' lounge,
connect to okea.org and encourage members to vote during
their planning times, lunch periods or after school.
• Enter those members who vote in a drawing to win a gift card
or another prize.
10. Ideas & Incentives
• Use this QR code. Members with Smart Phones can scan it
and it will lead them to the voting site.
