collaborative of GLCA faculty,
instructional technologists, and
librarians using oral history and digital
storytelling for community-based and
archives-informed learning.

3. MISSION
OHLA aims to promote alternative
approaches to pedagogy and learning by
creating ‘High Impact Practice’
frameworks that animate liberal arts
learning outcomes in small teaching-
focused colleges.

5. We will develop and publish an online
resource hub for oral history and digital
scholarship/storytelling.
This resource hub will be bursting with
pedagogical content focused on the
practice, the analysis, and the
publishing aspects of oral history and
digital storytelling.

community
• Synthesizing best practices for oral
history inquiry in higher education
• Articulating the nuances of copyright,
FERPA, IRB, and related student
privacy laws
• Sharing curricula and case studies;
project planning resources

exploring, & excavating the archive
• Curating tools for visualizing,
indexing, editing and archiving stories
& related media
• Exploring digital tools and algorithms
that allow new questions to be asked
of qualitative data

• Champion faculty review criteria that
recognizes new forms of scholarly

instructional technologists will catalyze
conversations on GLCA campuses while
establishing proven workflows and
streamlining collaborative/iterative
processes.
We’re creating rich archives, and
learning modules to help us work within
them.

• demonstration project teams with a
curricular tie
• student-driven oral history research
• authorship of case studies describing
exemplary models for GLCA-affiliated
faculty and professional staff
