This document provides information on recycling programs in Dayton, Ohio. It outlines what plastics, papers, aluminum, glass, and other materials can and cannot be recycled. Plastics numbered 1-7 and aluminum cans and glass bottles are recyclable, while plastic bags, tissues, foil, and drinking glasses should be trashed. Plastic bags cannot be
recycled. They get caught in
the conveyor belts at the
recycling facility and can shut
the system down. Ask for
paper bags at the grocery
store. Your local store should
take your plastic bags and
reuse them.

6. Tips for Recycling
• Please make sure all containers are empty.
• We encourage you to rinse food cans and plastic
containers.
• When recycling metal food cans, please place the lid
inside of the can.
• No medical syringes. Please place these in a jug with the
lid on, and put them in the trash.
• Do not place household items (such as toasters or other
appliances) in your recycling container. Take those to the
Buy-Back center.
