2. The images on a channel 4
poster always contain a
complex narrative; making it
difficult to quickly interpret,
have you study it for longer
to try understand and to
encourage you to watch it.
This is invigorated by the
mise-en-scène that makes it
eye-catching.
Guns and balaclavas as
a sign of terrorism to
intrigue the audience.
3. The idea of a slogan is to
anchor the main image. It
uses a clever set of words
that is meant to play on the
viewers mind – in order to
lure them into watching the
programme.
“Who goes in? We decide,
August 24th” linking to ‘The
final send off’ as it’s the
final series of Big Brother
and the image shows all the
people in funeral clothing,
so it plays on the viewers
mind as to who is going to
be involved in the final
series and what’s going to
happen on the programme.
4. Channel Four use the unique idea
of block of colour to make the
text stand out. This is because the
text is a cut-out because you are
able to see the image behind it.
Also, it always has the title of the
programme on the top line and
the tagline with the showing date
on the line below.
Channel four have their own
theme text to make it stand out to
the others and recognisable for
the reader instantly. Also, the box
text is always n the left, for
consistency and so you can still
see most of the image.
5. The channel four logo
is prominent (normally
halfway up the right
side) to maintain their
typical theme, so it’s
easy to see and it
stands out. It’s
normally the same
colour as the box for
the text.
The logo is done
cleverly so that you can
clearly see it but it also
uses a half/half see
through aspect and
doesn’t block out too
much on the main
image.
6. Channel uses a
theme of
presenting their
newspaper adverts
in landscape. This
is it’s a common
advertising format
and they are able
to make it look
spacious.
