The second best performer was Cairns, which recorded
median house price growth of 4.5 per cent to $350,000.

Investors too are making a long-awaited return to the
market with more than 4,500 properties bought by
investors in March this year. The 10-year average is 5,000
dwellings per month so this is also the strongest level of

    Meanwhile in SEQ, subdued rents along with first home
    buyers still playing the waiting game has contributed to
    increased demand for rental properties. Investors are also
    still only beginning to come out of the woodwork, which
    has meant rental supply levels remain low.
