How to Add Tracking Code for Google Analytics to Links
- 1. Adding tracking code to links to be registered by Google Analytics
This tool enables you to track lots of things through google analytics.
To set up the link:
1. Go to http://www.google.com/support/googleanalytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55578
2. Fill in the boxes, you must enter:
a. Enter the full URL you want to link to in the box “Website URL”
b. Enter a campaign source – eg “E52” for email 52 (this can’t have spaces)
c. Enter a Campaign Medium – eg “email”
d. Enter a Campaign Name – eg “sale”
3. Fill the optional boxes if you want:
a. Campaign term
b. Campaign content
4. Click “Generate URL”
5. Copy the URL it gives you and use it
6. If you need to create other URLs with the same settings – just add the other URLs in the top and click
“Generate URL” again
Eg:
URL = http://www.xyz.com
Campaign source = email
Campaign medium = email
Campaign name = E52
URL = http://www.xyz.com/?utm_source=email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=E52

To find the reporting you need to go to Traffic Sources in Google Analytics.

So the bit in brackets is the “Medium”
And the bit in blue is the “source
