G8 Set to launch ‘SWITCH’
A new generation of interior partitioning.
Michael Hockham - March 1, 2016
Slender, component light, fast to install, even faster to relocate,
aesthetically pleasing and carrying far superior acoustic
properties than anything of a similar scope on the Canadian
market, what more could you possibly want?
With tenant improvement packages extremely common place
among the glorious industrial builds seen sprouting from every
conceivable corner of Alberta and beyond, Dean & I have long

NEWS AT EIGHT
NEWS FROM GLASS 8 INC. - MARCH 2016
2. Glass 8 Inc. Newsletter March 2016
been rather embarrassed by the products offered and generally
available in the current market. Standard interior framing (450) is
the norm along with a look of horror on estimators faces when
clients dare to ask if ‘the product can be moved should we
expand?’ Commonly used interior partition framing such as the
rather boxy and cold looking Kawneer 450, whilst solid in
construction, doesn't really win any points aesthetically when
compared to sleek monolithic solid glass partitions but certainly
out performs them in acoustic value. As solid as it may be it’s
hardly demountable…far from it actually.
Now though, we have a solution and dare I say, not just any
solution. Imagine if you will, a slight in stature, strong in stance,
elegant, double glazed / drywall panelled frame, sporting beautiful
timber doors and hardware packages that simply ‘click’s
together….and apart! Stuff of dreams once maybe, but not now.
Glass 8 have secured exclusive distribution rights for the
European product and will be introducing the line-up very
shortly. For more information, contact Dean Borys, Mike
Hockham or drop a mail to enquiries@glass8.ca MH.

Striving To Alter The
Perception.
Michael Hockham - March 2016
‘Why can’t we find a glazing
company that can perform?’
A common statement from
developers and contractors alike
who are simply frustrated with
past and current offerings, not to
mention a reputation that
precedes many glaziers at site
level.
Here at G8, we are intent on
altering this dire perception via
in-house training schemes,
careful management and good
old fashioned encouragement.
As a recent immigrant to Canada,
I see many tradesmen and
women who are simply a product
of their own rather opportune
financial climate and working
environment.
As employers, we also have a lot
to answer for. As with parenting,
your employees will react to your
leadership and as such, we need
to be aware of how we lead our
people, the next generation and
possibly potential business
owners.
We must start from within and
stop blaming our teams for our
lack of supportive and
progressive management.

3. Glass 8 Inc. Newsletter March 2016
With operational excellence in mind, we have now secured our
centralized production and distribution facility, allowing stringent
control and continuity of product manufacturing throughout
Canada.
With CNC processing capabilities, rigid scheduling and a team
extremely well versed within the glass and glazing industry, Glass
8 Inc. see a whole world of possibilities taking initial foundation
from this new facility.
Rather than maintain satellite fabrication facilities throughout
Canada, we have chosen to centralize operations to one singular
base. With a quality product, produced, packaged, shipped and
distributed professionally, the need to fabricate at the source of
the project is simply not required. Offices in Alberta already exist
offering direct ‘hands and eyes on site’ management to oversee all
operational elements from award through to project closure.
For the Manitoba market, a strong team of installers have been
modelled upon tried and tested processes for delivery. With an in-
house fleet of access and glass handling equipment this new string
to G8’s bow is timely and fits extremely well with expected
growth through 2016 / 17. DB.
