2. Step One
Define Problems & Research
Objec&ves
• Student parking is an increasing issue for San
Jose State University students.
• For many students, the &me they spend
looking for parking causes them to be late to
their classes.
• With this year’s increase in applicants,
students are worried that this parking issue
will only get worse.
3. Step Two
Research plan, Primary/Sencodary
Data
• First, we thought it would be best to gather
any secondary informa&on from SJSU
administra&on.
• We needed any sta&s&cal informa&on they
have on file on parking for students.
• This was not enough info. We also needed to
collect our own primary data, as well, by
performing a survey on forty SJSU students.
4. Step Three
Research plan Implementa&on
• We asked SJSU administra&on how many parking
permits were given out to students versus the
amount of parking available. They were unable to
release this informa&on.
• We were informed of the five different types of
permits, 4th, 7th, 10th and cvb parking garages, as
well as, S.U.N. parking permits.
• Next, we surveyed students currently aYending
SJSU. We asked each a series of ques&ons
regarding their from of transporta&on.

9. Step Four Cont.
Interpreta&on and Report findings
• 3 alterna&ves
• Each parking garage should have a sign informing
students of the number of available spaces on
each floor. (preferred choice)
• The Spartan Daily should publish a story
highligh&ng the carpool shuYle service provided
by SJSU.
• School could be to increase tui&on to fund the
construc&on of more parking. However, this
should only be used as a last resort.
