• 4.5 billion mobile users worldwide- about ¼
with internet connected ‘Smartphones’ (and
rising)
• 70% to 90% of adults use social media
• 100,000 text edits a day on Trove
• 1.7 billion Wikipedia edits to date
• Fitbits and growth of wearable data gathering
devices

• Location sorts data and makes
connections
• Smartphones with GPS let you
– tell your networks where you are
– access location specific information
• Google maps— open and accessible
• Interactions with places are recorded in
many and varied ways

• Our relationships are increasingly
conducted through digital networks.

• The sentiments are not new- the means of
recording and sharing are
