President’s Message
Greetings from New Jersey Physicians of Indian Origin. Support, assistance
and guidance are precious gifts for the growth of any organization. NJPIO
is moving forward with this ideas. I support the National organization’s
vision of charitable events and fund raising. The theme of “Be Fit & Be
Cool” for child hood obesity is a good cause and needs support from
everyone. I congratulate Dr. Jayesh Shah and his executive team in
selecting the theme. We express our thanks for bringing the program to
New Jersey. Child hood obesity is a growing problem in USA as well as
developing countries. The obesity leads to other comorbidities such as
diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and cardiac diseases. This will lead
to other medical illness. The cost of health care is a burden for the individuals as well as government.
We the medical professionals should educate the public and to certain extend it is our responsibility.
National AAPI is the second to AMA and we should take the lead to give this message to public. AAPI
has different regional chapters and has the capacity to spread the News. Majority of Indian doctors
came from different sites of India and are very knowledgeable to give this message. AAPI will be easily
able to carry out the mission. You have all the support from New Jersey Physicians of Indian Origin.
At this point let me congratulate the New Jersey organizers-- Dr. Seema & Sanjay Jain, Dr. Manoj
Trivedi, Dr Tarun Shah, Dr. Jayesh & Dharmi Kanuga, Dr. Durgesh Monkekar, Dr.Atul Prakash, Dr.
Ratan Mirchandani, Dr. Hemant Patel, Dr. Anand Sahu, Dr. Chitrakumar, Dr. Madhu Agarwal, Dr. Sita
Yerramalli, and Dr. Sripad Dhawlikar .Thank you all for working together for a good cause.
We are stronger as an organization with over 10,000 members and we are stable in our activities. We
had our 14th annual soup kitchen in Jay Street,Newark in December 2012. Also we had given the
scholarships and awards to the best outgoing students- Dr. Paul Therrattil and Dr. Natasha Nayak. We
are proud of them and congratulations. (12th year). Our annual function was well attended in November
2012 in spite of the setback by Hurricane Sandy. We have awarded Dr. Rajendra Kapila, (Professor
of Medicine)Dr. Pranya Vaidya (Chief of Cath Lab at Hackensack University)and Dr. Seema Jain (Vice
President of AAPI) for the exceptional contributions to our New Jersey Physicians of Indian Origin at
the annual function. We are having the young physicians meet in Summer as a picnic program and fall
will have a festival. The web site is in progress and will be functional in fall. I request you all to be a part
and participate all the activities.
Together we can achieve much more and be successful.
Wishing you all success,
Thomas Alapatt. MD

.
.
I Dr. Sanjay Jain am highly privileged and honored to serve as your Convener
for this evening’s mesmerizing musical show of Shanker Mahadevan Loy and
Ehsan at NJPAC. This is a proud moment for our President, Dr. Jayesh Shah.
This nine city programme has been a great success and now we can plan
ahead.
On this occasion, I applaud our host NJ AAPI President, Dr. Thomas Alapatt
and Central AAPI Lead Dr. Seema Jain, Vice President of AAPI, who has

Editor’s Message
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all to
the entertainment program at NJPAC. It is my pleasure and
privilege to present this souvenir to you. At the outset, I
would like to thank the advertisers, supporters, and more
importantly, all of you for supporting AAPI. AAPI members
have always been with the organization during good and
bad times.
The commitment of AAPI, under the leadership of Dr Jayesh Shah, to fight
obesity is well worth the effort. As we all know obesity is one of our major health
concerns, and we at the AAPI can definitely make a difference by helping the
population in general. “Be fit - Be cool” theme is appropriate for our mission to
fight obesity. Various local chapters, including New Jersey chapters, have joined
Dr. Shah to bring awareness of obesity in the general public. With the nine city
tour of Shankar Mahadevan, AAPI will raise sufficient funds to help contribute to
fight obesity. I am hopeful, that AAPI will institute various educational programs
to increase awareness , in an attempt to overcome the obesity problem our
society is facing.
Today, NJAAPI, in association with National AAPI, is proud to present to you the
musical master Shankar Mahadaven and his trio. They will definitely mesmerize
you. I hope you will enjoy the show.
With Best Wishes,
Tarun Shah, M.D.
