2. Terese Swan Hutchison is a Charlotte native that has serviced the Queen
City beauty community for approximately 20 years. After graduating from
Harding University High School she attended Southeastern Beauty School
and became a licensed stylist in 1994. A year later, she purchased her first
salon at the age of 21. Her passion became her career and it has always
been about making people look good and feel good about themselves as a
person and not just a client.
Hutchison is currently the owner and operator of The Dooby Shop Salons
and will soon open The Dooby Shop School of Cosmetology.
A master stylist in her own right, Hutchison ensures that she remains
current and relevant in this ever-growing industry by continuing to stay on
top of the current trends and educating herself. She maintains that the key
to success in the beauty industry is educating yourself, training your staff
and providing quality customer service.
Hutchison is very active in the community. She is a member of the Y-
Achievers business mentor program and has been a guest speaker at
various programs reaching out to At Risk Teens.
In preparation for her cosmetology school Hutchison has become a certified
instructor by the NC State Cosmetology Board and can certify other beauty
schools to be eligible for Federal Financial Aid.

$10 Set N Go
$20 Dooby Wrap
$40 Relaxer
The Dooby Shop opened its first location in 2002 and
has become an integral part of the Charlotte
beauty community for over 10 years. There are
currently two locations conveniently located on
opposite ends of Beatties Ford Rd.
The salon focuses on making healthy hair care
affordable and provides a variety of treatments
to help maintain your hair in between visits
4. Hutchison says that she opened the school because she sees the
school as an opportunity to present to young ladies that want to
be professional stylists that she didn’t have. When she was
training to become a stylist she had to first graduate High School
before attending Cosmetology school. She believes that when
you know what you want to do there shouldn’t be age limits on
when you can start to fulfill your dream.
The school will be located at 2107 Beatties Ford Rd and its
opening is very timely as the Charlotte area has recently been
impacted by the closing of two beauty schools that were
longtime staples to the area.
Each month the school will host a competition to allow potential
students the opportunity to be awarded a full tuition scholarship
to the school. An added benefits of enrollment is guaranteed
job placement for students upon graduating and passing the
State Board requirements.
