Students are expected to read the
poem “Spring Singers” and write

8. Building Vocabulary: Million Dollar
Words. Million Dollar words
encourage students to expand their
oral and written vocabulary.
Together in a whole class discussion
a commonly used word is webbed
(bad, good, mean, big). Students list
synonyms for these words,
sometimes a thesaurus is used. The
chart is then hung up in the
classroom. Students are given a
million dollar coupon every time they
use a million dollar word in speaking
or writing.

foot and 36 inches in a yard, to make the conclusion that there
are 3 feet in a yard. They used paper yards to color 3 feet.

figures in order to compare two- and three-dimensional shapes such as:
