2. Human Area
Networking (HAN) is
a technology that
safely turns the
surface of the
human body into a
data transmission
path at speeds up to
10 Mbps between
any two points on
the body.
6. Transmitter induces a weak electric field on surface
of the body.
Receiver senses changes in the weak electric field on
the surface of the body caused by the transmitter.
Optical properties of Electro-optic crystal vary
according to the changes of a weak electric field.
Changes in the optical properties of an electro-optic
crystal is measured using a laser and converts the
result to an electrical signal in a optical receiver circuit
9. Communication starts when terminals carried by the user or
embedded in devices are linked in various combinations through
PHYSICAL CONTACT according to the human’s natural
movements.
11. Human body, various conductors and dielectrics
can be used as transmission media.

21. The evolution of RedTacton, technology is a big achievement,
which will likely be targeted for use in applications such as
wireless headset, medical application , security applications,
wireless transmission by applyingdifferent actions.
No Problem of Hackers
User convenience is vastly enhanced
Speed Enhance, ment for short distance Communication, of about
10Mbps
Electric-field communication is secure because it does not emit
signals over a wide area, unlike wireless communication.
22. For long term plans the size of the transceiver should be
reduced.
NTT is committed to quickly identifying and opening
up those application areas with the most commercial
promise for RedTacton , a business development process to be
coordinated under NTT’s Comprehensive Product Function
program
RedTacton looks remarkably like a big pot of kryptonite is
said to allow over 200kbps of data through th10 human hands or
feet.
Telecom giant Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp (NTT) is
planning a commercial launch of a system to enter rooms that
frees users from the trouble of rummaging in their pockets or
handbags for ID cards or keys.

25. Let's use this meeting room to demonstrate how authentication is implemented.
With conventional ID card authentication systems, ID cards must be waved over a touch
plate each time you want to access a room.
With this electric-field communication touch plate, however, communication and
authentication can be intuitively implemented in the natural flow of office activity.
This card you see here is a transmitter on which my information has been registered.
To use the system, all I have to do is put the transmitter in my pocket or bag.
Now let's see what happens when I touch the plate.
When I make contact, the lamp at the top of the touch plate changes color and
authentication is instantaneously implemented.
Information is transmitted via the electric field generated on the surface of my body,
so authentication is possible even if the transmitter is in a bag, as I've done here.
However, if the transmitter is not contacting the body, such as when I put the bag down,
authentication is not executed.
Electric-field communication is secure because it does not emit signals over a wide area,
unlike wireless communication. Of course, it also can be used for control similar to
conventional
security systems.
If a user is holding a transmitter that does not have access authority, that user cannot gain
to the room
matter how many times they touch the plate
. The system can be tailored to meet a company's special needs, such as a grip-type
system built into a
doorknob or a step-type system embedded in a floor.
