We were hired by the Spanish telecom Movistar to envision the best solution for what their VOD service should look like. We designed it. And it’s called Movistar Video.
This presentation puts together the main concepts and design premises we had in mind before we started working.
2. Last winter we were hired by Spanish telecom,
Movistar, to envision the best solution for what a
VOD service should look like. We designed it. And
it’s called Movistar Video.
This presentation puts together the main concepts
and design premises we had in mind before we
started working.
5. For Clients and non clients
The service is open to anyone,
not just movistar clients.
Several payment methods are
available.
6. 3 screens (at least)
The experience should be
crafted to suit PC, smartphone
and TV sets.
7. Web based
Not a set top box device, not a
standalone app. It’s a url, a
website so it’s really ubiquitous
and accesible from any internet
enabled device
8. A true system
Can we design an interface
with a set of patterns and
elements exportable to other
products? Can we make it a
real system?
18. Tactile + remote = ?
Can we design an interface
that works both with a remote
control and a touch-screen?
19. Sound and light
There is no tactile feedback on
remote control pads nor on
touchscreens. We should use
sound and light to
compensate the lack of
feedback.
20. Social?
Video consumption is private
but recommendations are
social. We should use social
networks just for the essential.
21. Alerts as aid, not as tasks
New movies by an actor.
New episodes.
Shows about to be aired.
25. Self explanatory layout
The layout explains the product.
What you see is what you get.
Few layers, no hidden levels.
26. Visual custom
Some pages will need visual customisation.
If content is separated from graphics,
customisation will be easy for the CMS
people and elegant to the user.
27. Text and images not merged
We should avoid merging
text inside images to
achieve indexability and
readability.
