The level of cover involves monitoring the
server hardware for any unusual activity,
via alarms generated by the chosen toolset.
When an alarm is received from any of the
monitored servers or devices, we shall be
notified remotely through our Voyager
Managed Service (VMS) Monitoring
consoles. The alarms that are triggered
fall into categories according to the
‘seriousness’ of the event. The majority
of alarms that are triggered are of a
non critical nature; simply generating
information that is key in keeping the
system optimised. These events are
recorded and can make up part of the
report that will be provided.
Through the pro-active nature of the
service, we are maintaining awareness of
system and service availability and are
better able to identify, address, and resolve
IT health issues before they become serious
problems. The monitoring agents which
we install will ensure that relevant and
important information is captured,
evaluated, and presented to us to make
recommendations on action to be taken
before a critical fault occurs.
