IDT 617 Foundations of Instructional Technology Class Orientation
About the Instructor Dr. Amy Adcock If you need an appointment please email or call. It’s a good idea to do this even if you plan on stopping by (in person or virtually) during my office hours.
Catalog Description Required introductory overview to the field of instructional technology. Topics include a history of the field, basic instructional design, generally accepted theoretical practices and major formats of instructional media. Emphasis is given to instructional technology trends as applied to various industries, including K-12, military, industry training, and others.
Course Objectives This course is designed as an introduction to the field of instructional design and technology.   By the end of the course, I expect you to be well-versed in the: ,[object Object]
processes of designing and evaluating instruction
applications of learning theory to the design process
applications of the field in all settings
past and future trends of the field including research design and methodology
networking, competencies and expectations for IDT professionals,[object Object]
Required Text Reiser, R. A. & Dempsey, J. V. (2011) Trends and issues in instructional design and technology 3rd Edition. Prentice Hall.  Any other supplemental readings are linked from the syllabus or provided for you under the Readings link on Blackboard (indicated by a * on the syllabus)
