2. This mask provides an eerie effect upon audiences
because of the lack of colour in the face, which
dehumanises the figure. Along with that, the fact
that there is no expression in the face also shows
no emotional connection with this character,
making it scarier for audience because it fits the
convention of a killer.
The mask is a good style model for our mask
because it fights the description of something we
could use for our killer; therefore I think what we
could take from this mask is the blankness of the
facial colour and expression to capitalise a scary
effect for audiences.
3. The vulgar effects on this mask
gives a very creepy image for the
audience, therefore making it
appropriate for a horror film.
For our trailer, I think our intention
is to experiment with the design of
it in order to make it look old and
deformed so that it looks scarier.
4. Similar to the Halloween mask, the
Jason Voorhees hockey mask
creates a sense of fear from an
object that is used regularly in
sport, which could increase the
level of fear from something
neutral.
I think this would be a good
influence for the mask we are using
for our project because it means
we could possibly use a mask that
would normally be seen as a
neutral object to people, which
would make it scarier.
5. I think that it is important for there to be
influences for our costume because that way
we can gain a sense of understanding as to
how successful these masks have been
reviewed by audiences, allowing us to create
something similar and even improve to a
higher standard.
