1996(newborn) President: William “Bill” Clinton In the News: June 27th – US Military barracks destroyed in Saudia Arabia, a truck bomb exploded outside the barracks and killed 19 people. August 6th - NASA discovers from fossils found on a meteorite which is from planet Mars, that there is a possibility of life on it. June 25th – 19 killed by a truck bomb at a US base in Saudi Arabia. September 2nd – US attacks Iraq’s southern air defense, warning them before.
1997 President:  William “Bill” Clinton In the News: July 4th - Mars Pathfinder is put on Mars to take pictures and land samples of the surface of the planet. March 26th - The comet Hale-Bopp was 1st spotted by 80% of people world wide without a telescope. The greatest comet in the 20th century. August 27th - California bans Affirmative Action,  “the state shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on a basis of race, sex, color ethnicity, or nation origin in the operation of public employment, education, or contracting”. February 3rd – US, UN & France, all agree to freeze Nazis’ gold loot.
1998 President: William “Bill” Clinton In the News: December 17th – President Clinton orders American and British air strikes on Iraq. Late October – Oldest person ever to be in space is John Glenn at the age of 77. Late June – Three men of a Ku Klux Klan drag James Byrd Jr. (an African American) to his death, they were later sentenced to death for this crime. August 20th - Over 20,000 people die when the US bombs a pharmaceutical plant in Sudan. This plant produced more than 50% of Sudan medicine. The excuse for this was “counter-terrorism” the later was an “accident”. US did not pay for damages.
1999 President: “Bill” Clinton In the News: May 2nd – US citizens are protesting for an end to the bombing of Yugoslavia. October 13th – Senate Republicans defeat ratification of the 1996 Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban-Treaty, this is the first time an arms control treaty has been rejected by the senate. December 31st – US turns over the complete administration of the Panama Canal to Panama. November 15th – US and China sign a historical trade agreement.
2000 President: William Clinton In the News: October 12th – 17 US sailors die in an explosion that was a carefully planned terrorist act carried out by suicide bombers. February 25th – Investors cause a stock plunge, this is the start of the end of the Internet stock boom. June 25th – US navy is still doing shelling exercises of Puerto Rico’s Island which is used as a training site. ____
2001 President: George W. Bush In the News: April 1st – An American spyplane crashes with a fighter plane of China, the crew is detained for ten days. 9-11, a day of infamy, Islamic terrorists hijack four US airliners. They crash two into the World Trade Centers, one into the pentagon, and one into a cornfield in Pennsylvania.  October 7th – US military make their first attack in the War on Terrorism on the Taliban and Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan after 9-11. January 4th – US agrees to ease restrictions on Cuba.
2002 President: George W. Bush In the news: January 29th – President Bush’s first State of Union address labels countries such as Iran, Iraq, and North Korea as “an axis of evil”. March 2nd – US and Afghan troops launch an operation. This is known as Operation Anaconda. They launch this on al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters in Afghanistan. May 13th – US and Russia reach landmark arms agreement. They agree to cut both countries’ nuclear arsenals by 2/3’s in the next 10 years. July 21st – WorldCom, after admitting to misstating profits files for bankruptcy. This is the largest claim in US history.
2003 President: George W. Bush In the News: February 1st - At NASA, the Space Shuttle Columbia explodes, the seven astronauts inside were all killed. January 28th – Bush announces that he is ready to bomb Iraq. March 19th – US and Britain launch a war against Iraq. December 4th – President Bush gets rid of steel tariffs after WTO says the US violated trade laws
2004 President: George W. Bush In the News January 14th – Bush proposes a space program that will have a trip to the moon, Mars, and more. April 5th through May 1st – US troops launch offensive in Falluja. June 28th – US hands over the power to Iraq interim government. September 20th – President Bush eases trade restrictions on Libya.
2005 President: George W. Bush In the News: February 2nd – President Bush says he has a plan to reform the Social Security. August 2nd - President Bush signs the CAFTA, the Central American Free Trade Agreement. October 25th – US death of soldiers in Iraq increased to 2,000. March 20th – In congress, the case that is focused on is Terry Schiavo.
2006 President: George W. Bush In the News: March 9th – President Bush signs a law which renews the Patriot Act. March 2nd  - US and India agree to a nuclear pact. September 6th – President Bush admits to CIA secret prisons. October 23rd – The deadliest month for US soldiers in Iraq.
2007 President: George W. Bush In the News: December – A recession officially begins. January – Microsoft introduces Microsoft Vista. February 7th – US sends 30,000 troops to Iraq. July 24th – The minimum wage increases, this is the first increase in 10 years.
2008 President: George W. Bush In the News: November 16th – Iraq states an agreement where US troops must be out of Iraq by 2011. December 14th – At a conference in Baghdad, a man throws his shoes at President Bush and calls him a “dog”. March 11th – The government begins to intervene in the US financial system. This was to avoid a crisis. October 1st – US senate ratifies an agreement where they allow India to buy nuclear fuel on the world market.
2009 President: Barack Obama In the News June 1st – H1N1 disease spreads throughout the world. October 31st – The economic recession is deepening. June 12th – US televisions switch from analog to digital. July 4th – The crown of the Statue of Liberty is reopened to the public. It had been closed for security purposes due to 9-11.
2010 President: Barack Obama In the News: April 30th – BP Golf Coast oil spill, this is the USA’s worst oil spill. April 5th – President Obama announces the revised US nuclear strategy. June 2nd – US is said to be the World’s number 1 targeted killings. June 1st– President Obama’s vice president, Joe Biden, praises the US for its world’s “finest military”.
